Could this be the James and Maria listed in the 1851 in Uckfield, Sussex? I am tracing the American branch of this Bourner family, just now piecing together some UK records.

I have just come across your message a year old and realise I had not seen it before it came about the time my daughter had a bad car accident so I probably just skipped all my messages at the tim.
I see you have photos of the bourner family and wonder if there is amny way you could let me see them or copies of them. I have only a couple of photos of dad with the lady i assume is emily bourner so i would be very grateful. If you remember my dad was len Dann who emily fostered . many thanks

My father and my grandfather were Robert Bourners from Kent. Robert John Bourner my grandfather also had three brothers killed in France, all within 4 months of one another in the same year, as well as losing one of his own sons, Charles Keith Bourner who is buried in Imtarfa at Malta. I am researching my husband's family.
His father's grandfather was Adolphus Brignall, born in 1841 in Wittersham, Kent.
I could not find him on any census records until this weekend when I got him on the 1851 census.
He is listed with John Brignall 30 - farmer's son - head; Ann Brignall 36 - schoolmistress; James Bourner 13 - errand boy, stepson; Adolphus Brignall Bourner 10 - scholar; James Tyler 5 - scholar; Ann Elizabeth Brignall 5mths.
The two scholars are "schooled at home".
census record is from Tenterden, Kent.
Anybody got any ideas?

Hi,
Definitely the same family. My Dad also remembers visiting Aunt Kit in Folkestone. We have an old photograph of William and Ann (Emily's parents) and all the children - including Emily and Aunt Kit. I don't suppose you know anything of Elizabeth? She was my great grandmother, married George Reed and had a child Gertrude Alice?
I recall you saying your father was fostered by Emily, may I ask what his name was?

Perhaps This could be helpful Miss bourner lived at Dutch Cottage Morghew Park Tenterden Kent . As she had made no will the rest of the family descended and took the house . I was only small and do not remember this . I do remember Miss bourner had a sister called Aunt Kit who I recall visiting in Folkestone approx 1965. The road was St something rd possibly St Francis Or St winifred

I don't know if I have emailed before but have been offline for a while. I actually live in Tenterden and my father born in 1919 was fostered by miss Emily Bourner born in 1872. She was the daughter of William. I have more information if you are interested.

Hi Aimee,
I am a niece of Charles (uncle Charlie). I met him on numerous occasions in Eastbourne.
My Father was Alfred George Bourner. Born 1920-died 1987.
He was brother to Charles, Doris,Fred(NZ),Shelia(NZ),and Dereck.
Alf had 4 children. Frances, Christine, Frank, Shirlene by his first wife Mildred, and me by his second wife Dorothy.

I would be most grateful if you could give me any information on Thomas Bourner born in Tenterden in 1812 his father's name was John. Also I am also trying to trace a Joe Bourner born in Tenterden in 1874 to James and Caroline Bourner. I can not trace him after the 1881 Census but we know he was a Royal Marine and finally ended up in Medway.

Due to illness (I am now 86) I have not pursued my family tree as energetically as in the past.

I am currently tracing my husband's family tree and have found that Robert Bourner was his great-great-great uncle. In my research I have found that Robert was the son of Thomas Bourner and Ann Avery. The family were Tenterden born and bred. They lived in Tenterden and just outside the town in Smallhythe. Most were Agricultural Workers as the area was mostly farming land at that time. I believe Thomas was born in 1812 and his father was John Bourner but my research continues on that line.My husband's Great Grandfather Joe (Robert's nephew) joined the Marines andmarried a Spanish lady in Gibraltar moving her to Medway in Kent where his family have lived ever since. In my research on the Internet I found a Robert Bourner who died in the WW1 serving in the Highlanders Regt - would this be your ancester?If you would like some more information or if you have other information to share please reply.

Hi everyone.
Can anyone help please. Looking for one Edward Albert BOURNER. born abt.1885 He married Rosetta Mabel PORTER (BRAXTON - she was a widow) and I believe they lived in Wimbledon, London. They had two sons, Jack and Derek.
Albert was in the 20th Hussars.
Not much to go on I am afraid....but I am doing this for a friend, and this is the only info. I have.....

Hi Greg I do have alot of extracted records on William Rangers because my Grandfather had brother by this name. I will check them out and see if one is married to a Emily. are you sure it's England and not Canada? Also are you sure they are not French. I beleive my Great Great Grandmother was Emily but still searching not proven French in Quebec,not sure of her Husband Rangers name or her madian name.
My Great Grandfather was Gilbert Ranger born in Quebec.

I am one of several Bourners in Edinburgh descended from Robert Bourner (born 31 January 1887) and his father, also Robert Bourner (born 1847; married Hannah Banks, born 1846), who were from Tenterden in Kent. I'm interested in any more information on the family in Kent.

Charles Frederick Bourner was born in Emsworth, Hampshire in 1815 and married Kezia Sprinks on 9th November 1835 at Saint Leonards Church, Streatham, Surrey - there were eleven children to this marriage: George Frederick b. 1836, Charles Edward b.
