My great-x-7-grandmother Abigail Marvin m. Jan l 1656/7 at Norwalk her stepbrother John Bouton Jr., son of Alice Marvin by her first husband John Bouton Sr. I am descended from them as well as from her full brother Matthew Marvin Jr. In his l900 Marvin Genealogy, W.T.R. Marvin debunked James Boughton's claim in his l890 "Bouton-Boughton Family" that the Norwalk Boutons were of Huguenot descent. The name was found in Essex and Suffolk a half-century before the persecutions in France. He suggested instead that John Sr. was the "John Boughton, son of Richard" baptized March l0 1572/73 at St. Nicholas, Ipswich. Has John Bouton Sr.'s descent been discovered since 1900?
