I am descended from Alexander Bowe, some of his descendants spelled the name Bow.
I just recently traveled to Middletown CT and found the tombstones of Edward Bow Jr. and his mother Anna Prior Bow Ward in the Old Farm Hill Cemetery. They died a year apart in 1755 (Anna) , 1756 (Edward Jr.).
Edward Bow Jr is my 5 great Grandfather.
I have seen sources stating Alexander Bowe, the great grandfather of Edward Jr., was from England, arriving about 1656 in America. I have never been able to identify a Bowe in England that early in history, but have not tried very hard.

I am trying to find the connection between several Bow families that came from Pittsfield, Berkshire county, Massachusetts, who I believe came from Middletown Connecticut. I know that a Jacob Bow (m Zerviah Brainerd) went from Middletown to Pittsfield, Mass, probably after going with his brother Daniel to Pittsfield, Vermont, where Daniel remained. They were sons of Peleg Bow and Mary Woodward.
I have taken what I could find and assembled the most logical family connections. The people in northeast Ohio (where I live) have been pieced together with obituaries and cemetery records, and biographical sketches in books from the late 1800's.
I used a question mark or "Probably" where I positioned
people because it looked plausible.
The main disconnects are unknown parents of the three Abraham Bow's, of Oliver Bow, William Bow, and Charles Bow.
I noted that Charles is used frequently in all the families.

I don't know if I'm related, but I research Bow and Bowe.
I have a photocopy of the biography (from Who's Who I think).
He was b June 2 1891 Detroit, son of Sandy and Anna Cushing Bow.
children Warren James Bow, and Nancy Ann Bow.
Died May 12, 1945, buried Evergreen Cemetery, Detroit.

I am related to the Horace Bow b.3-21-1816 family of Hillsdale County, Michigan. I would like to know if anyone can tie these together.

You do not mention any dates. I am the granddaughter of Helen Whyte Bow, daughter of James Bow and Annie Jackson. Helen had a brother John born about 1882,brother William b about 1880 or 1881, sister Jane b about 1874,sister Mary b about 1876and James b about 1884 In ship's lists there quite a number of Bows whose birthdates match some of these. I also have a Thomas Bow born about 1856 , son of William Bow and a John Bow b about 1850, son of William Bow Hope there is a connection. I can be reached at cprairielily@shaw.ca

They are my gg grandparents. Nancy was dtr of John A Cole 1795-1880. and Louisa Thompson 1810-1876. She had 7 siblings. She was born in 1829 in Va. and died I think in 1922. My grandmother was a bow from kilsyth and she had brothers and sisters that went out to australia/canada/america.
I do have various other names and dates. They were all based in kilsyth.

I have discovered that peter and susan bow where my grandmothers parents, she was the youngest child born in 1905 her name was mary bow.
Peter Bow was a blacksmith living in kilsyth, stirlingshire, he was married to susan and they had 9 children (i think ) I do have some other info and dates.

This is an old entry. I discovered the GRO of Scotland issued a certificate with an error. It should have said Dow not Bow.
I found all of the family.

My grandmother was JANE (Jeanie) BOW and she was born about 1876 in the Falkirk/Stirling area of Scotland. Her parents were JAMES and AGNES (m.s. Wright) BOW. JANE (Jeanie) BOW married HENRY SMITH Nov. 26th, 1897 in Falkirk. Her residence at the time of their marriage was West Carron Larbert. Further, JANE (Jeanie) was a barmaid at the Queens Hotel in Grangemouth.

I may have the wrong man for you, but my Levi Bowe sounds as if he might be in the neighborhood. Levi Bowe (the e is optional) was born 3 Mar 1739 in Middletown, Middlesex Co. Conn. He was the son of Amos Bowe, a cooper and Tabitha Bevin, also of Middletown.
Levi moved from there with his parents to Wells, Rutland Co. Vermont. Levi married an Ann Hall, about whom I know nothing but her name. She must have lived in Wells, Vermont, because there's no record of her in Middletown.

Isabel (Belle or Bela) Bow, b 1776 d 1858 Dickson, TN
Ozeai, 1779 (I make a guess that's really Hozea)
James , 1782
Erastus, 1784
Levi married a second time to Maria Goss or Goff, said to be b in Germany.

Levi b 1810, in Ohio
Eliza b 1812 in Tennessee
James, b 1814

Amanda, b 1819, in Tennessee
Erastus, 1821, who m. Eliza Jane Collins in 1831 in
MONTGOMERY CO. TN.

There are differences in dates making it seem unlikely that your Amy Anne might be my Anne or Anna, but this family did move to Montgomery Co. Tennessee at that time. Montgomery Co was a huge piece of TN, about a third of it at one time and it was broken up into several counties, of which Dickson was one. There is also a town named Montgomery in that area, which was the capital of the old Montgomery Co.
Your letter is very old and you may have your information, or may have given up, and I may have offered you the wrong Levi. But, how many Levis can there be in the wilderness of Tennessee in the earliest part of the 19th century?

Warren E Bow was principal of Cass Technical H.S. in Detroit in 1935 and also assistant superintendent of schools. The 1935 CT Yearbook is dedicated to him. If anyone is interested I'll be glad to post his picture in the message board. (I am not related or researching)

I'd love to try to get photographs of all the children of Jesse Robinson Bow. I'd like to get photos/portraits of all of the children of Nathaniel Bow/Rachel Thurman as well, but we'll see.
I'm a direct descendent of Lafayette Taylor Bow/Isabella Marcus Taylor. I have a photo of both of them, given to me by their granddaughter who is quite elderly but still living in Oklahoma. I'm happy to share it if you email me.
I'm also looking for photos of some of their children. I have several photos of Paul Stanley Bow (my ggrandfather), Mary Louisa Bow, and Bernice Bines Bow. I'm looking for photos of Olie Otis Bow Jones, Marvin Hewitt Bow, Horace Story Bow, Leo Taylor Bow.

If anyone has photos they are willing to share, I'll would be very appreciative. I'll be happy to share photographs I have. Mostly, I'm quite curious because I'm struck by how much one of my uncles (in his 50s) resembles Jonathan Gaines Bow at the same age and would like to try to piece together a more comprehensive family record.
