Sue, do any of your bowdoins come from Maine?
I have a John Bowdoin from York, ME. His son
was Leander N. Bowdoin, who moved to Boston
sometime prior to 1900 and with the birth of
his son Arthur in 1904 changed the spelling
of Bowdoin to Bowden. Does any of this sound
familiar to you? John's wife's name is
unknown. Suspect she died either in child-
birth or soon after.
