I am trying to trace my ancestors along the Bowdin line but am having great difficulty as we know so little!
My grandfather, Frederick James BOWDIN (b 1914, registered in Newcastle Under Lyme, Staffordshire) married Amy TAZIKER (b 1916, Bolton, Lancashire) in 1943 in Farnworth, Lancashire. Frederick James had a brother Henry BOWDIN. Their father was Frederick Thomas BOWDIN (could be in records as BOWDEN for some reason) b 1881 registered in Congleton, married to Elizabeth CONDLIFFE (b 1879, Bradley Staffordshire) in 1902 in Audley(registered in Newcastle Under Lyme). The family moved to Dinnington, Sheffield in the early 1900's when the pit opened. Frederick Thomas's father was Thomas BOWDIN, b around 1845 in Staffordshire area. I believe that above that, there was also Henry BOWDIN but am having great difficulty tracing the family as they do not seem to appear in the records (unless I am not looking in the right places). My father seems to recall the area of Mow Cop was mentioned.
Any information gratefully received - unfortunately, family records were not a strong point in earlier generations and therefore we have very little to go on.
Kind regards
Glenn Bowdin
