CHARLES HAROLD BOWER
Charles Harold BOWER was born February 13, 1873, near Delphos, Kansas, and passed away October 12, 1932, at Westley hospital in Wichita, Kansas. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Bower, pioneers of Cloud county, and grew to manhood on the farm near Delphos. He was educated in the public schools here, after which he learned the jewelry trade, graduating from a Horological school in Philadelphia. He followed this trade and conducted a jewelry business in Delphos until 1900, when failing health compelled him to make a change in his occupation, and he moved to Fairview, Oklahoma, where he engaged in the hardware and implement business, associated with J.R. Haley. He returned to Kansas in 1912 and engaged in farming, which he continued until the time of his death.
On the 4th of May, 1898, he was united in marriage to Georgie F. Rees of Minneapolis, Kansas, and to this union were born four children: a daughter, who died in infancy; another daughter, Hilda, of Kansas City, Mo.; two sons, Wilbur and DeWitt, with their mother in the home; and one grand-daughter, Alice Joan BOWER. He is survived by two brothers, Clifford D. of Sedalia, Mo.; and Henry A. of Fairview, Oklahoma; and a sister, Mrs. Summer E. Bishop of Fairview, Oklahoma.
It was the outstanding honesty and integrity of Harry BOWER that caused so many people who knew him to honor and respect him. That same honesty and integrity, together with his wonderful patience and unselfishness, will cause his family and friends to be sorry that he has been called to the greatest experience in life.
Mr. Bower was a member of the Masonic order and was a very enthusiastic member, seldom missing a meeting. For many years he was relied on for various parts of the work, and was an exceptionally well-informed Mason.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Delphos City Auditorium, with the Delphos Masonic Lodge in charge. The Rev. C.E. Nash, of the Methodist church, delivered the funeral sermon. Burial was in the Delphos cemetery.
