James BOWIE from Scotland

Surnames: BOWIE, FRASER
My BOWIEs are from Scotland, and I've traced them to Dingwall, Ross and Cromarty, in the year 1827. Does anyone know if Bowie was a common name in that area? Names are Jamed Bowie, wife Isobel Fraser, children John b. 1827 in Dingwall, Daniel b. 1832 in Creich, Alexander b. 1840 and Ellen b. 1844. The Bowies lived in Creich, Sutherland, and Dornoch, Sutherland.
