I found a Thomas BOWLING & Ann HEBDEN, married 27 Apr. 1775, St. Peter, Leeds, Yorkshire, each aged 30. Because of the location, I think they are the most likely parents of George BOWLING who married at St. Wilfred, Calverley, Yorkshire, 2 Apr. 1806, Mary HAIN(S)WORTH. George & Mary had Nancy, b. 1808; George (1809 - 1820); Mary, b. 1812; John, 1813; Thomas, 1816; Ann, 1818; Phoebe, 1820; George, 1824; Serene, d. 1825; George, 1827; Esther; Selina, 1828; & perhaps Martin, 1833.
They were of Bramley, Leeds, Yorkshire, 1841, when ages were rounded down to the nearest five years:
George, 60; Mary, 50; Ann, 20; Esther, 15; George, 10; Salina, 10, & Martha, 1. All were born within the county. [I don't know who Martha, 1, was. She couldn't have been a daughter of Mary, 50.]
One George of Staningley was buried at Calverley, 22 Mar. 1848, aged 70 or 71, but then Mary, wife of George, was buried 20 Feb. 1850, Calverley, and she should have been called widow instead of wife if he had died earlier.
Does anyone have further clues about this family?
