Hello,
I am posting the following reply to your posting mentioning Anne Bowman and Richard Shockely JR, about whom I would like to know more.
I am tracing a William Bowman who was born in Halifax Co., VA in 1759, served in the Rev. War from Henry Co., VA, and after the war settled in a part of Montgomery Co., VA that became Grayson Co., VA by the time he sold out & left in 1796. One of his next-door neighbors was Richard Shockley, who I believe moved from Grayson Co., VA to Grainger Co., TN.
After leaving VA, William Bowman moved to Surry Co., NC, and then to Grainger Co. TN where he lived about eight years, from there he removed to White Co., TN, where he lived about two years, from there he removed back to Grainger Co., TN where he lived about fifteen years and from there he removed to Marion Co., TN where he lived when he filed for his Rev. War Pension.
When William sold the property in Grayson Co., VA, his wife Ann, relinquished her Dower rights.
Hoping that our information meshes,
Byron Bowman
