Hi I am another NZ Boyack, my father came to NZ from Dundee and as far as I can go back is to 1794 to James Boyack and Anne Stevenson who had 4 children
1.Elizabeth Boyack born 1824 married Richard Greatie
No children
2.Robert Boyack born 1826 married Mary Ann Brodie
3 children
3.James Boyack born 1828 married Anne Rennie
children unknown
4.David Boyack born 1830 married Jean Andrew 4 children
I am a decendant of David and Jean Boyack's 4th child Francis who married Elspeth McLean they had 9 children
No sure if we have any links here but your right in asking for orgins of the name, I have also been asked the same question over the years.
