Here is an update ... concerning new findings for this Boyers family.

John Boyers, the 2nd son of Joseph and Mary, married Georgina Hyland in Liverpool, Nova Scotia, in 1873. At that time, he listed his occupation as "Mariner".

John, sometimes called JP, and Georgina traveled for a while between Maine and Nova Scotia, but eventually settled in Lowell, Massachusetts.

John and Georgina had four daughters, all of whom lived in Massachusetts for most, if not all, of their lives.

Boyers Family - immigrated in 1865

Joseph Boyers and his five children immigrated to the United States, from Yorkshire on Hull, in 1865. They arrived in the Port of New York, on April 6, on the ship Neptune.

It appears that Joseph's wife, Mary (Gilroy) Boyers, had arrived in the United States earlier.

They almost immediately settled in Biddeford, Maine.

The five children were:
Thomas Stephen, who later married Ellen Hurley, - John Boyers, - Henry Charles, who later married Margaret Hanley, and later still, Annie Keough, - Joseph Boyers, - and Mary Alice, who later married Henry Atkinson.

The father and mother were from County Sligo, Ireland.
The children were all born in Sculcoates, England (a district of Yorkshire on Hull).

Thomas and Ellen had eight children that lived and married in Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts.

Henry and Margaret had one son; James Joseph who married, but did not have any children.

Mary Alice and Joseph Atkinson had one son and one daughter. The daughter died without marrying. The son, Joseph, married and had seven children.

Your Grandmother is my Aunt Louise. She was the daughter of James Montclair Boyers and Henrietta (Hattie) Boyers. My father, John Boyers Sr. was her youngest brother. She was the oldest child and her brothers, in order of age, were James, Earl, William, Robert, Emmert, Donald, and John. The last time I saw your grandmother was at a family reunion in 1973 at her house in Sparta. Everyone was there, and it was they last time they were all together. They have all passed on now, including all of their spouses.

I am trying to find descendants of Joseph Boyer born 1876 in Bracebridge On. Canada and who died in 1952 in LA. He his a long lost relative of the family as he left home at age 16. We suspect but we do not know for sure if he had any family in California. Any help in finding descendants would be appreciated.

Thanks
Phil Boyer
