There was an Alonson Boynton who lived in Aurora. The name was sometimes recorded as Lonson, Alonzo etc,.. He and his wife Eliza (Rhamm, Ramm Rahm ap. ??? had several children see 1951, 1871, 1881 censi. Some Boyntons moved to the States, while some stayed here. Perhaps your Lewis Alonson is a grandchild of Alonson and Eliza.
Hello Carl,
I think this is amazing. I come through Andrew Jackson Johnson, to James Johnson, to Jimmie Ray, to me - Jennifer. I have been trying to get my father on the Cherokee Tribal Roll. He is eligible via Josephine and Polly Fivekiller. However, I cannot find a birth nor death certificate on Andrew. He went by so many aliases and lived so many places that I just cannot find him! It is the only document holding me up. The Johnson line is certainly interesting! I have had a lot of fun showing dad where he came from. My email is thejen@cox.net if you would like further contact or my tree to look at. Thank you for contacting me. Jen

Mary F "Mamie" HALL was the daughter of Levi H and Mary E HALL. The 1900 Fulton Co GA census shows the widow Mary living with her older brother David HALL. The census indicates that Mary has 4 living children, but only three are shown with her; Samuel M, James S, and Levi H. All three kids are shown as having been born in Texas. My *guess* is that Jesse BOYNTON died in Texas sometime 1895-1900 and Mamie packed up the kids and came back to Georgia. Samuel is still living with Mary in the 1910 census. Don't know what happened to the other kids. The 1920 census of Chicago IL shows a "Lewis H" BOYNTON who *might* be Levi.

I am Carl's son, Carl Johnson, Jr.

I know Charles and Fred are both buried at Hillside Cemetery just north of Skiatook, OK. I also know one of Josephine's daughters married a Slattery, and another a Cobb. Believe it or not, we are related and I'm searching for more information on our line. My late mother was Betty Lou Boyington and her parents were Annie Davis and Eddie Boyington. Grandmother lived in Bogalusa, Louisiana and Granddad was last known living in Mississippi just across the border along the Pearl River. I'd be interested in knowing what all you have on our Boyington relatives. You can email me at: danielhillusa@att.net

Hi Skip,

Your Mary Boynton is a descendant of immigrant William Boynton of Rowley, MA (1606-1686), born in East Riding Yorkshire, probably in Knapton near Wintringham. Her line goes like this:

1. William Boynton
m. Elizabeth Jackson

2. Caleb Boynton b. 1650 Rowley, MA, d. 1708, Ipswich, MA
m. Mary Moore

3. Caleb Boynton b. 1685 in Ipswich, MA d. 1766 in Maine
m. Christian Parsons b. York, ME d. Wiscasset, ME

4. William Boynton b. 1712 in York, ME
m. Esther Wyman

5. Mary Boynton
m. 1785 to John W. Briggs

I don't have any information on John Briggs and Mary Boynton's children beyond their names, but would be delighted to trade data with you.
This family may have had other children among them were atwo who died young and are buried in Pomfret, NY.....Lucy 1801-2/10/1813, Marilla 1805-2/16/1816 in the records it says they were the children of Captain Joseph and Lucy Boynton. The person I am researching is I believe is a son Joseph born about 1812. Joseph stays in the Pomfret area for awhile and then lives in Erie county Pa with his daughter Lucy. Your line and this line seems to match. The only problem is where did Joseph and Lucy come from? Joseph makes the comment on the census that his parents were from Connecticut. I don't know what relevance this is.
Francis (Frank, Franklin - I've found it all ways) and Adeline must have married between 1854-55 because the oldest child Charles was born in 1856. I just recently found out a few more things, that you may already know. I know nothing but what I've dug up.
I'd love to learn some of the family info first hand.
Lorry

Did Joshua & Mary (Boynton) Parker have a daughter named Mary (Polly) Parker? Birth date taken from gravestone as 23 April 1751. Which makes mother Mary (Boynton) Parker born in 1737, only 14 when daughter was born. Daughter Mary had a brother Samuel. Source is "Mother Says" so is Samuel one of the unnamed children? Daughter Mary Parker married Joseph Merritt. Both Joseph and Mary (Parker) Merritt are buried in the Merritt Settlement Burial Grounds in Smithville, Ontario, Canada. I just got back from 5 days in Canada and I visited Joseph & Mary's graves. While there I came across some information that said that Mary & Polly are twin sisters. But nothing to prove it so far.
Joyce There seems to be to many Mary Parkers.

My GGGG Grandfather, John W Briggs, married Mary Boynton in Wiscasset on November 22, 1785 (Mary was born app. 1763)

I don't know much more than that except my GGG Grandfather, also John W Briggs, was born to them in Castine, Maine in 1790. I'm trying to determine why the birth was in Castine -the family stayed in the Wiscasset/ Bath area for most of their lives.

I was in Maine last year doing research and plan to return next spring. Maybe I can learn more about the Boyntons' then.

Skip Briggs

Hi Katherine and thank you,

I know very little about John Briggs (and his ancestors) except the following:

John W and Mary (Boynton) Briggs had five children:
Benjamin 1783 b. Wiscasset
Peter 1791
Mary 1793
Susan B 1795
and my GGG grandfather John W 11-23-1789 b. Castine

GGG is buried in Bath, Me about 8 miles from Wiscasset.

He married Eliza Dodge of Wiscasset (maiden I believe Dow)
They had six children including my GG grandfather George E. Briggs in Norridgewock in 1821.

GG had seven children, but only one lived beyond 2 years...my GG grandfather Henry Dow Briggs (b. 1858, Bath). He and his father moved from Bath to Lynn, Ma after Henry's mother died in 1865.

Tell me what else you would like to know, Katherine.

I hope to return to Maine for more research in 2009.

Skip Briggs
PS I tried kat.prawl@gmmail.com, but it seems it didn't connect.
Hi, my name is Mike Baynton and I live in Cardiff, Wales, U.K.
I have traced the Baynton family back to 1689 all from Mells ,Frome ,Somerset ,England.
The bare bones tree is on ancestry as baynton public tree so take a look if you like.

I did'nt know what information you might have had as I have been working through the sisters and brothers of that generation .
Ezekiel and Susannah lived and married in Mells in 1820 and had eight children of which Mary Ann was one .

I am descended from her oldest brother Joseph Henry Baynton born 1821.
Most of the other sisters have entered service when they were young here in the U.K. working for rich families in the London area.Another sister Maria married a local Man John Clark she had two children of her own.but died after the second child was born about 1889.

The youngest brother who was named Ezekiel Henry Baynton born 1839 and married a Hannah Wright in London, England. After they had two children he travelled to New York, and after 6 months the whole family were reunited in N.Y.He worked as a marine engineer in Buffalo and I have some records of them from the U.S. census showing they had six children with 3 surviving girls named Hannah ,Annie and Lucy.

There are more relatives in the U.S. from one generation back . Francis J Baynton( who would be Mary Ann's uncle) emigrated with his family to Toronto, Canada in 1898 and I traced them through Canada to present day San Diego, California where the grandson lives today.
If you have any more information about Mary Ann or any other Bayntons I would be grateful.

Regards
Mike.
I"ve found it spelled so many differnt ways. JORDON, JORDAN, JURDEN,GORDON some peoples writing was not very easy to read. It would be WILLIAM SOLOMON JORDAN, CUMIRA,CUMIRAH, MYRA JORDAN,CARRIE,CARRY LEE JORDAN 1888, WILLIAM EDGAR OR WILLIE OR BILL JORDAN 1894. They lived in York County Nebraska for a time. Francis ended up in a home for retired and wounded veterans and was buried there in South Dakota. And Adeline ended up leaving York, Ne and moved to Bellingham, WA to live with son and passed away there. I recently moved and have to dig out all my info for you. I have looked every where I can and keep running into dead ends as far as Francis' parents. In the census reports in York County he says he comes from New Hampshire and then years later he says he is from MA. It makes it difficult.

I am Bobbie Ruth Boynton Eubanks, granddaughter of John Cass Boynton and Elizabeth Lydia Powson. The Walter Boyntons and John Boyntons moved to Greer County Oklahoma Territory from Texas in the late l890's. Uncle Walter and Aunt Sally had five children, three girls, Robbie McGee, Mellie Thomas, Masie Tolman, two boys Doug and Roy. All but Roy lived in the Willow community and were instrumental in establishing schools, churches, etc. A granddaughter Tobe McGee played on the professional Red Heads basketball team in the 40's & 50's. I think she and her husband eventually owned that team. Uncle Walter and Aunt Sally later moved to Quanah, Texas. I do not remember them, but our family was close to the Thomases and McGees.

Billy Wayne Boynton is my cousin. His father, Johhny and my father Bob (Robert) were brothers. His mother was Lucille Craig. They were married in Oklahoma, Leon and Gloria were born in Okla, Nelda in New Mexico. I have a good family history of the Boyntons and I keep in touch with those still living--most are in California. I would not have any knowledge of Clinton and Curtis, but would be happy to share with you and jerry the very interesting (and sometimes sad) history of the Boyntons. I am Bobbie Ruth Boynton Eubanks. I am 81, married for 59 years to Tyson Eubanks. We live at Afton, Oklahoma. Nelda brought Uncle Johnny and Aunt Lucille to visit us and my parents who lived in Vinita in 1971.

Hi, Great to find relation.Just saw your post today--sorry for the delay. I have quite a bit--hard to know where to start. I think I have all the connections somewhere in my stuff, but the original ancestor who came to the new world was William Boynton (and his brother John)born in 1605 and died in 12/8/1686 in Rowley, Essex, Mass. I have a map of the Mass area where they settled in Rowley.
*Ruth Eaton is the daughter of Guy and Lydia (Rockwell ) Eaton. The following information came to me from someone also related to the family:: Guy and Lydia both were decended from grandparents who had gone from Conn. to Nova Scotia in the great
migration of the 1760's. After Lydia's death, he brought his children to Old Town, Maine where his daughter Mary was living with her husband, Charles Fisk. In 1841, Ruth Eaton, another daughter married, Henry Boynton of Bradley, Maine. Guy Eaton's parents were David Eaton born in 1765, died 1830 and Eunice Wells born in 1766, died 1850. Lydia's parents were Asahel Rockwell born 1749 and Ruth Brooks.
Does this sound right to you: Mary Ann Boynton born July 7, 1845 in Bradley, Me, died Dec.3, 1929 in Little Falls, MN (I have a xerox copy of a photo (not good) of Mary Ann standing next to her husband). Andrew J. Gatchell born 10/2/1838 in Etna, Me. married Mary Ann on Aug 6, 1864 and died Mar 26, 1914 in Little Falls, MN. Their son who is the subject of this tree was named Ernest L. Gatchell born Oct. 25, 1884 in Forest City, MN Married on Sept 19, 1915 and died Mar 9,1957 in Little Falls, MN. I also have dates and names for the Gatchell relation back to 1719. More later, let me know specifics of what you are looking for.

I am looking up information on Sir Henry Boynton as well, I have Isabel Boynton as his daughter whom married Sir Brian Tunstall, so if you have any that will be nice I can send you what I have. He wasn't beheaded because of Oliver Cromwell you will have to go forward over 2 centuries. I will research this as the reason why.

Re: Children of Jeremiah Boynton and Sarah Higgins

Hi Mary Jane! I am also descended from Henry Jason Boynton and Ruth Eaton - through their eldest child, Mary Ann Boynton. I have found some info on children of Jeremiah and Sarah but there are still some blanks. Most of my info is in MS Word documents which I'd be happy to email you as attachments if you'd like. I'd love to compare info and see if you have any additions or corrections.

About 10 years ago I went to Maine (I live in Seattle) and took pictures of some of the family tombstones - including Sarah Higgins Boynton. Again, I'd be happy to share whatever I have.

Colleen
