The Old Union Church cemetery is maintained by the Zigler family since the live adjacent to the cemetery. One of the Zigler women, Maxine, married Don Repp. Both of those families attend Old Union Church. Their father was Cecil J. Zigler (11-19-1906 to 11-10-1963), their grandfather was Oscar J. Zigler (1-14-1877 to 7-26-1956), their great-grandfather was Charley Zigler (1844-1919) who married Jurita "Jennie" Steenbarger. Jurita was the daughter of Joseph Steenbarger (8-18-1827 to 3-13-1911) and Joseph was the son of Henry Steenbarger and Polly Bozell both died 1867. There is your Repp/Bozell connection, but I cannot say it answers any of your questions.

There is a Bazel cemetery in Benton, Des Moines, Iowa. This was on the land of Peter and Ann Frazier Bazel. Quite a few people are buried there. Peter's family originated in Pa, and Ann's were from Va and Ireland. They were born in the early 1800's, and had many children.

And yes, Ed (Bud) Bozell still lives in the area with his wife, Lucille. His sister, Patty Bozell Wheeler, is not far away either.

I am descended from a Josephine Bozzel who was born in 1856 and married my ggrandfather, George W. Lind, in 1877. He was born in 1849 and lived in Bartholomew Co, Indiana, at the time of the 1920 census. They had 7 or 8 children, but I only am sure about half of them. The ones I am sure about are Hovey Albert (1890), Chester (1899), Hazel (1894), and Wiliam Asa Buryl (1902). My mom speaks about other aunts as well.

George W. died in 1920 in Jonesville, Indiana and Josephine died there in 1925. They both are buried in the Jonesville Cemetary.

I have multiple generations of info on both sides of the marriage between George W. and Josephine, but no knowedge of her background. I would love to learn more.

Janet,

My name is Deborah Bozell Donahue and I am from the line of Bozells in Indiana. My line was known as Boswells who were originally from Gloucester, Virginia. This family migrated to Spotsylvania, Virginia and then to Culpepper, Virginia in the Shenandoah Mountains. They later migrated to Madd River Township in Ohio and around 1824 settled in Bartholomew County, Indiana.

My great great grandfather along with two brothers migrated to Central Indiana in Tipton County this is where my father lived until adulthood when he moved our family to Madison County, Indiana.

You can check my web site on this family at www.geocities.com/Heartland/Village/7311.

I hope this helps you in some way.

Debby

John Braley in Jefferson Co., IN, 30 Dec, 1819, but that is just a stab in the dark.

Any bells?
My greatgrandfather was the WaterMellon King of Indiana. My grandfather was Herbert L. Bozell and grandmother was Gladys Warne Bozell from Fair Oaks, Indiana. Most of our reletives live down around Edinburg, Indiana. My uncle Edward Bozell who is still alive lives in DeMotte, Indiana and has a son named Ron Bozell. Great grandfather changed our name a long time ago it used to be LaBozell. Made it more American.

Sandy,
There are good many BOZELL/BOSELL families in the northwest corner of Bartholomew Co IN. Many are buried in the German Twp cemeteries of Old Union Steenbarger. I have been in touch with BOZELL researchers from FLA.

Here is a quote from them: "Your Levi BOZELL was my third g-grandfather's son who was married to Angeline PENCE. His other son George was my g-g grandfather who moved to Tipton Co IN and founded the New Hope Christian Church..."

The researchers will be visiting Bartholomew Co IN soon. I'm sure you will want to contact them. Please e-mail me privately at robey1861@aol.com

Beth

Thanks Paul for your help. I was aware that
there are many different spellings and that
the name was originally Boswell. My father,
George Gerald Bozell, was b. 1924 and d. 1985
in Indiana. I believe (but cannot prove just
yet) that his ancestors came from southern Indiana.
Thanks again for referring this query to your son.

Melvin,

I just was not thinking when I sent the email to you. My cousin Melvin is a Spaulding not a Bozell. His mother was a Bozell, my father's sister.

Where were you raised and who was your great grandfather?

I grew up in Indiana in Madison County and the later generation of my line of Bozells lived in Central Indiana. Prior to living in Central Indiana they lived in Bartholomew County, Indiana around Columbus, Indiana. They migrated to Bartholomew County in the early 1800's from Champaign County, Ohio. Before that they lived in Virginia and I have traced them back to the mid 1600's.

Love to hear more about your line.

Debby Bozell Donahue

Baby Boy Bozell - Born 7-11-66

Hi,
I was adopted out of Jackson, MI. approximately 11 days after birth and on my birth records, on of which was given to me by mistake, refers to me as Baby Boy Bozell. This original last name was confirmed to me by the records clerk of the Jackson County Probate Court. As you have probably already figured, I am doing an adoption search and any help you could give, would be appreciated. According to the courts non-identifiying information, my mother was a secretary and my father was in the military. The two were not married. I have other information, if you think you can help.

Thanks in advance, Mark

Boswell/Bozell Family

I have done a considerable amount of research on this family and I have traced them back to the middle 1600's in Gloucester County, Virginia. Check my web page www.geocities.com/Heartland/Village/7311 and be sure to check on the flag! There was a Mary Bozell who is my Aunt. Mary married an Albert Schuck and lives in Tennessee. The majority of my Bozells migrated to Bartholomw County, Indiana in 1824 from champaign County, Ohio. My great great grandfather moved to Central Indiana in 1850 with two of his brothers and settled in the Tipton County area. The Boswells that migrated from Shenandoah County Virginia
to Champaign County Ohio and then in 1824 to German Township, Bartholomew County, Indiana is my line. My third great grandfather changed the name back to Bozell which is supposed to be the original spelling and pronounciation.

The Bozzell name has been misspelled every possible way! Try Bosell, Bozell, Bozelle, Bozzel, Bozzell, Bozzelle. It was originally Boswell! I've checked my data --no Mary Bozzell -- and nothing from NC. A large group of the Bozzell's settled in Indiana, another group in Omaha Nebraska, some in Marshall, MO (near Kansas City) and some went to CA.

My grandfaher was harry Bozzell.

My father was a Bozzel, adoped by Maggie davis (his aunt) when his mother doed in childbirth. It may be helpful for you to know the name has been changed over the years; check Bozzell, Bozelle, Bazzle, Bozzall Bawzel and Bozzard.
