Hello, Since i posted this last December i have found much more information about Andrew Braaksma. I have tried contacting one of his brothers and possibly the brothers son but have had no response at all. I sent them each letters with all my contact information but i have not had any answer at all. Please contact me at my email, which is lwillard39@yahoo.com. My name is Lisa and I can give you all the information i have. I am hoping to eventually see pictures and find out if Andrew Jr had children, that would be about my age and so forth. I am just putting this out there because the name Braaksma is so unusual, i would have thought it would be easy to find someone, but i have had zero luck. I am looking for any relatives of Andrew Braaksma who was born in Jan of 1922 and died in 1997. He was married to Ellie who was born the same year and died in 2000. They are both buried in Florida and the cemetary where they are buried will not answer requests for information. His was in the army and air force and I do know he has lived in Florida, Wisconsin and Massachusetts. I do not know if he had any children nor how many times he was married. He was supposedly my father out of wedlock. Thanks anyone.

Hi Roxanna,
I believe you are related to my husband. His name is Donald Childers. He was named after his uncle Donald Braaksma. Donald Braaksma had 2 sisters named Beverly and Donna. His fathers name was John Braaksma.
my husband is the son of Beverly (Braaksma) Childers.
My understandins is Donald Braaksma had a daughter. I "think" her name was Roxanna but he lost contact with her when she was a child.

My name is Roxanna Braaksma I was never allowed to know my fathers family I do know his name was Donald James Braaksma he was born in 1943 in California and died in 1977 allso in California his mothers maiden name was Schultz and her and my fathers father came from either Friesland or Holland if any one has any information that could help please let me know

I know Thys Braaksma who was from Leeuwarden. His mother was my mothers cousin I believe. He had 5 or 6 brothers and 1 sister. That is about what I can tell you. They were relation to the Bonga family. Edna

Hello to Gerrit Jelle Braaksma ...my husband is Jack {Jelke} Braaksma who was born in Rinsumageest in 1944. His parents were Roelof and Marie }Lantos} . Jack[Jelke} came to Canada in 1966 from Leeuwarden { a fine town!} We now live in central B.C. we have 3 children , 2 girls and 1 boy. Jack's family is still living in Freisland except for 1 sister Anette , in Vancouver. Greetings from all of us in Canada.

I read your request for Fred, Adzer & Thys Braaksma on Ancestry.com.
I realise my reply may be a bit late, since you posted your request as early as August 2000, but I only recently became aware of the existance of Ancestry.com.
I do not know Fred Braaksma, but I do know Thys and Adzer; they are in my family-tree somewhere.
Thys emigrated to the USA in 1913; his brother Adzer was a bargeman in his home village of Rinsumageest.
They had 5 more brothers and sisters, two of them (Fedde and Jelke) also emigrated to the USA (in 1918).
I could look up more information if you wish, since I live close to the place where the archives are being kept.
Alternatively, you could look up things yourself on their web-address: http://www.ryksargyf.org/nl/ryksargyf.asp
on the next page click "Genealogie" at the top of the page,
on the next page, choose either "BS geboorten" (births),
"BS huwelijken" (marriages), or "BS overlijden" (deaths);
on the next page, choose "Regio 3 (Dantumadeel)";
on the next page fill in the name of "Braaksma", then click
"Zoeken" (search).
As I do not know anything about my relatives in the USA, maybe you could give me some tips as to where to look to find out about the American branch of my family!
