Just came across your post.
I too am researching my grandfather. My difficulty, and possibly yours, is that he ran away from home, added a year to his age and changed his name. This was not discovered until his death and only then because a note was found that he had written giving his name and date of birth.
I hope by now you have had some success!
I'm still trying to find out the location of the recruiting office my grandfather went to on 16th August 1914. Any help on that would be appreciated.
