Just attended a family reunion in Hallsboro / Whiteville NC.
John Henry Bracy Sr. was my great grandfather. Lula Baracey was one of his children along with John Henry Bracey, Jr. who was my grandfather. The others were Randall Bracey, Sr.,Sarah Annie Bracey Howard, Lula
Bracey Maultsby, Rosa Bracey Suber, Martha Bracey Powell, Gamaliel Bracey, Georgia Anna Bracey, Cass Bracey, and William Dudley Bracey. My father was James Angus Bracey, the eldest child of John Henry Bracey Jr. I believe that there were 12/ 13 natural children of John Henry Bracey Jr. and two adopted children. I hope to working on the committee to plan the next reunion in 2013. How are you doing in your search? It is difficult to gather information. I understand that a large portion of original information was destroyed during the civil war in Virginia. It is difficult to patch together information gathered by talking to the senior members of the different family groups. Also many had already passed away before we started having reunions. So in a lot of cases we just have oral stories that have been passed down. We are blessed to have any information at all. My own father was born in 1890. Anyway we keep reaching out.
