Hi Mary Beth,
I kind of thought your grandfather went by Bert, but wasn't sure. I think the brothers were Bert, Tom, Otto, and Iver, right?
I am sending you the Digital Archive links to the 1865 and 1875 censuses. Our great great great great grandmother is on the census, plus a couple I think are Anne's parent. Plus possibly Anne's sister and nephew. I'm not sure, just guessing by the last names. It must have been a crowded house! But our family sems pretty well off - I compared their data to some other farms in the area, and they had more livestock than any one else.
I used to know how to find the emigration information - it was on the same web site. I had found my Iver's ship and one of the other brother's ship's info, but now I can't find it.
I would love to have a copy of Anne's letter! I have a few anecdotes about Grandpa Brack (Iver Sr), but my grandmother never knew Anne, I think, because she never mentioned her. But she loved Grandpa Brack.
I will start copying photos and the letter I have. I will also put together the info I have from my grandmother. It's great your dad is around to talk to you. Would love to hear your family stories!
Rena's family is still in Dunn County (WI). Her daughter Elsie is alive, and Elsie's daughter lives near Rock Creek. Who is the other sister? I only know about Rena.
Looking forward to hearing from you again,
Tracy
