I have Luten Braddy's date of birth as March 1st 1843, born in Jones County, MS but no date of death - have never been able to find out what became of him after 1860. Five of his brothers served in the Confederate Army and two of those died during the war but there are no enlistment records for Luten. I have found a Luten Braddy who lived in one of the coastal counties in the early 1860s and died in 1862 but the age seems too far off. It could have been Luten, son of James, but was possibly a cousin of theirs. The brother named Edmond who was born in 1851 seems to have disappeared from the records as well. I do have some info on the others if you need it.

Looking for family information on my gggrandmother Amanda Braddy. She was born between 1848 & 1852. She was married to Thomas M Dean perhaps in Alabama or maybe Georgia. I believe Amanda to possibly be born in Alabama. THe only census that I can find Amanda Braddy Dean on is the 1900 Census where they were living in Yell Co, Arkansas with 2 of their sons. Please if anyone has any information contact me....I have been stalled on this for a few years.

Asceamy Brady married William Heath 4 November 1847. Data from Newsom's file, Historical Society, Sandersville, Georgia, Washington County. Spelling? Not a problem for me as I have seen numerous names spelled different in even the same documents.
Do you ever wonder if so many ever knew how to really spell their names? I know that times were hard for so many of my ancestors that they were fortunate to get "high enough" in school to just learn the multiplication tables, much less spelling and the parts of speech.

I have worked on the "Braddy" family data for the past thirteen years. I have much information, but am still missing information on John Braddy, son of James who was the son of James and Grace. Do you have any information about him possibly being in service?
Did he get killed in service? Who did HE marry ? Since i am a Braddy, I do attend the Braddy family reunion in Laurens County. There is also a Braddy family reunion in Montgomery County, which is where Andrew J. Braddy lived and where his descendents continue to live today.

Can you help me in any way? Would be so much appreciated.

Christine
She is the daughter of Andrew J. Braddy and his wife Elizabeth Rains. Andrew is the son of John Braddy and Sarah Hall.

Johnston County, NC Braddys

Date: 11/01/2009
Research on JOSEPH B. (JOE) BRADDY, b. December 25, 1824 in Johnston County, NC. According to census records, Joe was a teamster in his earlier years and appears to have migrated to Texas in mid-1830s via GA and MO; according to deed records he was a land investor/farmer between 1874 and 1887 in Young and Callahan counties of Texas, near Abilene; his latter years were as a farmer and lived between Jack, Montague and Cooke counties with his eldest daughter, Margaret. Joe was first married to SARAH ELIZABETH CHAPMAN born in MO in 1826, and had Margaret Louisa b. Apr 2, 1866 in Texas d. Feb 22, 1939 in Lovington, Lea, NM and buried Feb 26, 1939 in Landers, Fremont, WY and William George Washington b. 10 July1868 in Ft. Worth , Texas. Margaret’s census information and William’s death certificate indicates their mother was born in MO. Information locates J. Brady (Braddy) along with daughter, Margaret age four and son, William age two in the Ft. Worth, Tarrant County, TX 1870 Census. Tarrant County, TX mortality schedules for 1870, lists M.E Braddy, female, less than age one, died in December 1869 and S. Braddy, age 44 assumed to be M.E.s mother, died in March 1870. Speculation would lead one to believe that at age 44, other children existed prior to 1870 other than M.E., Margaret and William. Joe was later married to FANNY MITCHELL, b. 10 May 1840 in Lawrence, IN; as indicated in the Buffalo Gap/Abilene, Texas1880 Census, they had four additional children as noted below.
.	Joe Braddy was included in the family of JOHN MARION AND MARGARET LOUISA BRADDY SIMPSON in Cooke County, TX in the 1910 Census. Joe accompanied his daughter and son-in-law, Margaret (Maggie) Louisa Braddy and John Marion Simpson, to Teton County, WY. Joseph died on November 5, 1916 in Jackson, WY and is buried in Aspen Cemetery, Teton County, WY. Census entry listed Joe as a widower at the time of his death
Fanny Mitchell Braddy at age 55 and son Charley at age 23, b. 1880 noted in Ada, Pontotoc County, OK- area (Ada-Indian Territory Census of 1906). Fanny was also mentioned in a 1911 edition of the Ada Evening News, along with Charley and Dick. FANNY MITCHELL BRADDY at age 74 was noted in the 1920 Census in Cimarron Township , Pawnee County , OK . Fanny was living with her half sister, VINA J. Kinder WYATT. Vina b. 8 Oct 1851 in Lawrence, IN died 11 Oct 1922 in Stillwater, Payne, OK was the wife of CHARLES E. WYATT b. 10 Apr 1856 in Cass County , MO died 1921 and buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mannford, Creek, OK. Charles E. Wyatt was the son of JAMES MORGAN WYATT buried in Pioneer-Boggess Cemetery in St. Jo, Montague, TX, James Morgan Wyatt was a bootmaker and reportedly a Montague County Sheriff. Vina and Fanny’s mother was ANGELINE MAYFIELD MITCHELL KINDER, also buried in Pioneer-Boggess Cemetery. I would greatly appreciate any leads to these Montague County residents; i.e. birth certificates, death certificates, marriage info, birth of children, etc. I suspect that Fanny in about 1870 met and married my great grandfather, JOSEPH B. BRADDY somewhere between Tarrant County and possibly Montague County.

Joseph and Sarah Elizaberth Chaman Braddyhad the following children:
MARGARET LOUISA BRADDY, b. 1865 in Taylor, TX d. Died 2/22/1939 in Lovington, NM and is buried Mt. Hope Cemetery, Lander, Fremont, Texas. Maggie married rancher/cattleman JOHN MARION SIMPSON in Taylor County, TX on August , 28, 1881 John Marion Simpson: Born 1853 Brownwood, Texas. Died 3/1/1912 in Lander, Fremont, WY. Buried Mt. Hope Cemetery, Lander, Fremont, Texas.
Margaret Louisa and John Marion had the following children:
James Chester Simpson: Born 9/10/1884 Brownwood, Texas. Died 6/20/1940 in Lander, Fremont, WY. Buried Aspen Cemetery, Jackson, Teton, WY.
William Arthur Simpson: Born 1/3/1887 Tecumseh, Texas. Died 11/29/1968 Wichita Falls, Texas. Buried Mt. Hope Cemetery, Lander, Fremont, Texas.
Florence E. Simpson: Born 1894 in Texas. Died 1913 Jackson, Teton, WY. Buried Aspen Cemetery, Jackson, WY.
Hiram Keith b. 1882 in TX, d. 1911 in Valley View, TX and buried in Valley View Cemetery
Sarah Elizabeth (married unk Nelson) b. abt 1889 in TX unaccounted for after 1939 mention in Margaret Braddy Simpson’s obit as living in Jackson, Wyoming.
Lillie Mae b. abt 1891 in TX,d. 1910 in Valley View, TX and buried in Valley View Cemetery
Dollie b. abt 1903 in OK, 1911 in Valley View, TX and buried in Valley View Cemetery.
WILLIAM GEORGE WASHINGTON BRADDY (my grandfather) b. 10 Jul 1868 in Ft Worth, TX. d. 12 May 1954 in Texas City , TX . William (Will) married Mary Maude Chaffin of Bulcher, TX and had the following children:
Elvis Lee b. 07 May 1893 in St. Jo, TX d. 03 Aug 1960 in Phoenix, AZ
Eula Mae b. 05 Mar 1897 in St. Jo, TX d. 23 Jun 1982 in Houston, TX
Joe Milton b. 25 Oct 1900 in St. Jo, TX d. 16 Apr 1947 in the Texas City, TX explosion
William Leslie b. 01 Nov 1902 in St. Jo, TX d. 29 Jun 1988 in Texas City, TX
Maurice James (my dad) b.14 Jul 1908 in Stoneburg , TX d. 10 Dec 1996 in League City TX
SALLIE A. BRADDY b. 1874 in Texas and married R. Alford 1 Mar 1893 in Graham, TX. It is believed that they possibly had at least one son, William A. Alford b. June 09, 1918 in OK; d. April 04, 1990 in Riverside, CA. (This son is not validated) and one daughter, Sallie E. Alford.
George E. Braddy b. 1876 in TX. Disappeared after 1880 Abilene Census. Probably died in Abilene area at young age.
Dick or maybe Richard b. 1879 in TX, died of TB in Ada, OK on January 17, 1911 at the home of Charley and is buried in Rosedale Cemetery, Ada, OK.
Charley Braddy b. 1880 in TX, was a Ada, OK police officer who was shot and killed in Ada , OK in 1912. Buried in Rosedale Cemetery, Ada, OK on April 26, 1912.
ROGERBRADDY2004@YAHOO.COM

We descend from Ezariah Braddy who I believe is Jesse Braddy's brother. Ezariah and his family were in the Madison County area, until my great grandfather, George Braddy passed away. My grandmother was his daughter by his first marriage, and after his death, she went to live with her older sister, Myrtle Braddy Pruett. They had two brothers also.. Millard Price and Sidney Edgar Braddy.
I worked a little with somebody on the Braddy line years ago,but have been involved with many other lines as well. Just saw your post or I would have responded a lot sooner.
Re: Info on Jack Braddy

"Jack" / Andrew Jackson Braddy is my gg-gf. He was born 1/24/1883 and died 10/9/1958 in Milledgeville, GA. He was in the mental hospital with what is now known as Alzheimer's Disease. This line of Braddy's was used by the CDC to prove that Alz. D. was hereditary. He married Mattie Eugene Walsh in Montgomery Co., GA on 1/121906. I have spent more than twenty years searching for info on Mattie. Her parents were Richard "Sonny" Walsh and Clara Eugene (there is some dispute as to the last name of Clara) of Walterboro, Colleton, SC. Clara is on the 1910 census in Tattnall Co, GA working as a housekeeper in the Kennedy family household. She then moved back to SC to live with one of her daughters (Mae Eloise who married a Fennell). Mae had two young children. Clara died in 1914 and Mae died the day after her mother's funeral. I have been unable to track down info on Sonny. I learned from several of Jack and Braddy's children (Daisy, Ruby) that Sonny supposedly died in a logging acident but I have been unble to find out where and when. I have been unable to locate the Walsh family on the 1900 census anywhere is GA or SC. I have a little more info on Sonny's parents and siblings, nothing on Clara's family. Jack's father was Robert B. Braddy (1851 - 3/13/1929), son of Oliver Bennett Braddy and Martha Turner. He also died in the hospital in Milledgeville, GA with Alzheimer's disease. His wife was Queen Ann Mosley/Moseley.

Hope this helps.

I am looking for information on James Arnold Braddy and his family. He died at the age of 69 on Nov. 17, 2004 at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, MO.

He was born April 19, 1935, at Braggadocio, MO., son of William and Mittie (Hipps) Braddy. His mother Mittie (Hipps) Braddy married 3 times. First to his father William Braddy, then to Mr. Clayton and last to Mr. Barker.

He had a brother William "Billy" Braddy and he married a lady named Annie. He also had two sisters, Jean Braddy and Mable Braddy. His sister Mable Braddy married Marion Edward Bridges.

James Arnold Braddy served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

I do not belive he ever married or had children but I think he had nieces and nephews he was close with in MO.

His grave is at Home Cemetery in Perryville, MO.

My email address is cauffman@hotmail.com

Another thing you need to think about is when you look back at the census, it looks to me like your ancestor may have been Jesse Brady. Now are you a "Braddy" or a "Brady"? The DNA would hopefully tell you. I research the Brady surname and it can be found spelled Bradey, Braddy, Bradley, Bradly, etc.

My grandfather was Roy Lawrence Braddy. He lived the later part of his life in Edwardsville Illinois. My Father, Roy Lawrence Braddy Jr., told me that his father's family was from the Benton Missouri area. At the age of about 17 my grandfather married the much older widow Oda Smith (sp?). At some point that marriage failed and a number of years later he married Florence and they resided in Edwardsville Illinois and raised two sons, James and Dwain.

Any information you may have connected to these folks would be appreciated. I know there was a Ray Braddy and a John Braddy thet I believe were brothers or cuosins of my grandfather. Some of the family resided in Calumet City Illinois for a period of time.

My father had two sons (Roy L, III and Duane R) and two daughters (Cheryl L and Rochelle). We resided in Muskegon Michigan for most of our lives.

I would have to garner more information on this DNA ancestry. However, I may be willing to try this if it checks out.

I didn't know that about the DNA project. I have not looked into how the DNA thing works a lot yet. Well, my mothers brother (his mother was a Braddy & his father was a Bridges also) is still alive but he is away right now and it is really hard to get in touch with him. I will ask her if she knows of any other male Braddy's she can get in touch with that would do the DNA project.
I am not sure about more brothers or sisters.
I am not sure if the line of Braddy's I'm looking for is one you are working on or not. I could use any help I could get! :)

I have just started working on my family tree but I do not have much to go on.

My grandmother was Mabel Louise Braddy and she was born in abt 1927 in Portageville, New Madid, Missouri, USA and she died Oct 1998 in Niles, Berrien MI, USA. She married Marion Edward Bridges and they moved to Niles, Berrien MI, USA. On one of the couples first child's birth records it list Mabel Louise Braddy's next of kin living in Tennessee. My grandmother always said her family "moved around a lot and that they helped to pick cotton at one time". She also stated that her mom and dad were sharecroppers.

She had a sister named Jean Braddy, and brothers named William "Billy" Braddy and Arnold Braddy. I am not sure about more brothers or sisters.

I think her mother was named Middie (not sure of her last name) and I do not know her fathers first name. Just his last name, Braddy.

My great-grandmother Middie remarried to her second husband Mr. Barker. However, I do not know his first name.

My mother told me that her mother, Mabel Louise Braddy, stated that her family lived on some farms in Missouri and they worked as sharecroppers. My grandmother's family moved around a lot I guess.

If you have any information please email me at cauffman@hotmail.com
She was born on 4 Feb 1894 in Emanuel, Georgia, USA [3, 4, 5]. Residence
1900 in Militia District 57, Emanuel, Georgia [3, 4, 6]. She died on 8 Apr 1971 in Chatham, Georgia [5,
6]. Social Security Number was 255-30-0127 [5]. SSN issued in Georgia [5].
Notes for Effie Lee Snipes:
General Notes:
SOURCE: THE WIGGINS-SNIPES FAMILY BIBLE
Births: The following are the children of Jim Snipes and Ella L. Wiggins:
Clara B. Snipes 12/11/1887
Sidney Eugene Snipes 10/31/1889
Jesse James Snipes 8/27/1891
Effie Lee Snipes 2/4/1894
Deaths: Based on information obtained in South Carolina Census Records, we believe this is
Elizabeth "Lizzie" Harden Snipes (wife of Melton Snipes, mother of Jim Snipes and Loula M.
Snipes Wiggins) father. He may have moved to Georgia to be with his daughter later in his
lifetime, possibly upon the death of his wife. We do not know if he is buried in the Wiggins
Cemetery or in South Carolina. Since his wife (Mahala Harden) is not mentioned in this Bible, we
can assume that he was probably returned to South Carolina to be buried with his wife.
Effie Snipes BRADDY 4/8/1971
Jones M.

My name is Sonya Gibbs and my maternal grandmother is Gary Braddy(1908) from Sellers, S.C. She married Ernest Graham from Fair Bluff, N.C. Her parents were Jesse Braddy (1872, S.C.) and Jane Braddy (maiden name unknown) 1878. Sellers is a very small community; I've visited there several times as a small child so I'm confident we're likely related.
