Looking for info on Gregory Bradner

I am looking for any information on Greg Bradner, who a childhood friend of mine in Toronto. Greg's father (Ralph) passed away in his sleep in the early 1970's. Greg and I were best friends--he lived on the 5th floor, and we lived on the 3rd floor of our apt building. Greg's mother (Hilda) had medical problems back then and I do not know if she is alive. Greg had no siblings. In the late 1970's Greg and his mom moved out to Bramalea. We kept in touch every few months for about a year, then lost touch. I saw him again in Toronto in the early 1990's. We had lunch, then again lost contact. I was shocked to learn on this website (through a google search to see if I could locate him) that he passed away in 1994. If anyone has ANY information on Greg or his mom, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you.

Lemuel McConnell

Hi, I noticed your posting about Thomas McConnell and his wife Mary, and their son Capt Thomas and Anna Garvin. I am interested in Lemuel McConnell, who is also a son of Captain Thomas and Anna. My gg grandfather was Jonathan McConnell who was born about 1780 in Vermont (likely Johnson). He comes to Canada and eventually settles in the Belleville area of Ontario by 1809.I suspect he went to the Stanstead area with his father and that is where he meets his wife Hannah Covert from New York. The name Lemuel shows up many times in the next generations, which would make sense if he was the father of Jonathan. Any ideas?

My line from Ephraim & Alice (Little) Wadleigh to my grandaughters

 Hello,Bernie Bradner !
Would you be interested in my line from Bristol,England to now? It includes even the gap in the N.E.G.S. & Canadian records that started about 1798. I even have the graves & so on.As it turns out, I am the only living person with enough bits & peices to put it together. My grand parents were very private people & would say almost nothing about it, but I listened for 64 years & stored the peices. With the advent of the PC it became possible to sift the mass of course data & organize it, so as to begin.
First I went on-line with what I had & got more. Then I got the documents. Then I had D.A.R. cross check it all.
I am sure my grand parents would be in shock, as I got it all & I do mean all !!! Maybe more than I intended but, Oh Well there are no secrets that you can take with you anymore.I will keep the none genealogical things out of respect for the greater family, but share the rest.
Your's Respectfully,
JWB (Wadleigh)

Re: Louvisa Bradner - b1768 Orange Co NY

I bounced this query off of my genealogy partner in Canada,
Bernie Bradner.
Louvisa Bradner was born 1768 and d. Mar 1, 1852. Since she
was born in Orange Co NY there has to be a connection with
the other Bradners. Bernie suspects that her first name
COULD be Louisa or Lovina or that she was a Bradner by
her first marriage (which I personally doubt).
In order for us to proceed further we would have to have
additional info. Thanks. FRANKWB

There was a John McBradner and wife Charity who had a daughter Caroline in Erie, Pa. 1840 census and they moved on into MIch. settling in Walton Twp. Eaton Co. and found in 1850-60-70 census. My G-G-Grandmother was a McBradner , I believe, and I base this on 4 of her daughters death certificates where it lists their mother as Sarah McBradner. On one it has McBragham. This John and Charity lived very close to Sarah's daughter Sarah Elizabeth Robinson Garfield and Elizabeth and her husband George Garfield are buried in the same cemetery as the McBradners. I know that Sarah and David Robinson came to Mich. in fall of 1835 from Oswego Co. N.Y. and I found a Mary McBradner in Oswego Co. born in Ireland 1802. When John McBradner died either by mistake or design he was buried under just "Bradner". I was in touch with a genealogist from Ireland she said because my family came from County Down and because of the Name that they were most likely Ulster Scots. I know they were also Presbyterians. I'd sure like to know more but may have to settle for this.

I have an interest in the surname - McCartney. My research from a family Bible begins with Thomas B. McCartney (Oct 26, 1807) from Irland County, Armgh Townland off TullyHappy in 1833 with his wife, Jane Sleeth. They apparently first lived in Ontario Canada and then Midland Michigan.

If you know of anyone directly related, could you pass on my E-mail. I'm not related myself, by have a family Bible from the McCartney family sold at an estate sale and just want to pass it on.

Re: Mary F. Bradner, buried in Canton, Michigan

JODI --------- looks like your students are into genealogy.
What are you all doing in the graveyard at Kinyon Cemetery??
To answer your inquiry:
Mary Fairman Bradner was the SECOND wife of Carman
Ward Root. Mary was born 1854 in Redford, Wayne Co, MI
and died in 1942. Carman Ward Root was born in 1847
and died in 1941.
Mary Fairman Bradner was the daughter of Nathan Terry
Bradner (born 1821 and died 1899) and Elvira Person
Fairman (born 1825 and died 1912).
So------- it looks like the birth and death date of Mary is listed
ALONG WITH the death date of her father. A very strange
inscription indeed.
As the author of the 'BRADNER GENEALOGY' have your
students (the ones with computers at home) bring up my
genealogy which is on ROOTSWEB. The direct link is listed
below. Hopefully this will inspire some students to embark
on a hobby of their own family in a similar manner. This
genealogy took 20 years to complete.
DIRECT LINK (rather complicated):
-------------------------------------------------
http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=get&...

Am very sorry to answer so late, but I Never go to the
Message Boards anymore, just today something told me to go there.

As we all know Rev. John and Christian came from Co. Wicklow in Ireland. In the early 1700's some Bradners came to Pennsylvania, and I list them here. +++++++++++ Joseph Bradner Marr. (bef. 1776) in PA Margaret Campbell (b. Mar. 13, 1737- Abbey Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland). Her parents were Wm. Campbell & Isabella Gibson. The will of Wm. Campbell mentions Margaret BRADNER. +++++++++++ Jean Bradner (b. 1720 ; d. 1784/1790) marr. James Wallace (ca. 1795 - Pittsburgh, PA). They has a child Joseph Bradner Wallace - b. Aug. 6, 1751 - Ft. Duquesne, PA +++++++++ Amelia Bradner (b. 1720 - Alleghany, PA ; d. 1790 - Tennessee) marr. James Wallace who was born in Ireland. They had a son Joseph Bradner Wallace (1750 - 1820) who died in Blount Co., Tennessee. ++++++++ Joseph Wallace (probably Joseph Bradner Wallace) marr. Mary Meeks and had a son Joseph Bradner Wallace who was b. Jan. 30, 1795. He marr. Melissa Wilson at Gallatin, Tennessee. ----------------------- It is strongly suspected that Joseph, Jean, and Amelia Bradner mentioned above were siblings. Who the father and mother were of these Bradners and when they came to the US is unknown at this point. The Bradners of Co. Wicklow and Dublin in Ireland were very voluminous in numbers during the mid to late 1600's and in to the 1700's. At this point today, the Bradners have for the most part vanished from this area of Ireland. I have made several attempts to contact what I believed to be Bradners and/or descendants in Ireland and have gotten NO repsonse to my inquiries. So -- at this point I have all but given up on this venture. It is very possible however, that the Joseph, Jean and Amelia Bradner had their roots from Co. Wicklow. Since Jean and Amelia Bradner were born in Pennsylvania in the early 1700's, it would seem to me that their parents were already in Pennsylvania at this time. Possibly looking at old steamship records for this time period may uncover something.

I have visited the Grist homestead in northeastern Pennsylvania at Griste Flats. The stone house built in eary 1840's is still occupied and in good shape. Griste Flats Road is a named road leading to Grist Flats, a well known area outside Mehoopany, PA.Sincerely, Ellis

My G-G Grandmother was from Scotland and her last name was McBradner. I understand the Mc has been dropped in most cases. She married David T Robinson from Ireland and they moved from NY to settle in Calhoun Co. Mich. I believe her brother Joh MCBradner followed as he can be found in an adjoining twp of Walto in Eaton Co. The two counties touch. Would love to hear from anyone who may have connections to this family.
