Thank-you for responding to my post. Since this old message was posted, I have found that John Newport Bragg joined the Union Army during the War Between The States in Illinois. I am curious to know what led him to leave Franklin Co., AL to go north and also what other family members may have gone with him? I have much information on the Braggs and the Leatherwoods I am willing to share.
