I too have Brahms and Schmitts in my family tree. I have seen the name Valentine Brahm in Chicago but never figured out if and how he was related to my line: Adam Brahm b. 1850 in Villmar, Germany and d. 1911 in Chicago, buried at Waldheim Cem. He had 3 brothers, 2 of which also came to Chicago: Johan and Henry. They were the sons of Adam Brahm and Maria Anna Schmitt, who both died in Villmar. Maria had a brother Joseph Schmitt, b.1828 Villmar and d. 1896 in Chicago, buried at St Boniface. Maria and Joseph had siblings but I only know their birth dates, nothing more. Do you know the parents or birth places of your Emma Schmitt and also Valentine Brahm?
