The book that you have has my Great Uncle Lance and his wife Ruth. Trula ( Kennedy) is my father Lewis Peeler Brakebill III's mother. My maternal grandmother. I have some information on that, but can't remember. Would have to research that again. At one time I had a picture of William R. Brakebill with all of his sisters and brothers with the parents, but the computer crashed lost that information.

Will have to get Ricky's wife name. Todd is no longer married. Rena isn't either. My husband passed last September 2010 (James E. Leggett his name). I will update this before long.

Your on track. James Thomas is my dad, he passed in 1987. Betty passed a few years back. I can't remember the year. That is the same for Foya can't remember the date. I can't remember the dates on anything. Old age is setting in the brain.

I'm afraid the "fountain" ran dry on this one. I have no Mava Brakebill in my record. I think there is another Brakebill line, not descended from Peter Breakbill, 1762. There probably is a link somewhere, but I don't know where.The original Swiss spelling of Brechbuhl has taken many other forms after they came to America-in 1732, I think

Hi,

[Note, I'm assuming you are a direct, blood line ancester to Peter Brakebill, and not via marriage, etc. ]

I'm guessing that it's not Peter Brakebill specifically that you're trying to prove, but your relations to him. Peter Brakebill has already been proven in both DAR and SAR, so really, the exercise is proving your lineage to him.

You have to prove your lineage all the way to Peter. I'd recommend working with a DAR helper. They can look up previous records for Peter Brakebill and compare that to your lineage. That would help potentially eliminate some of the generations that you need to "prove".

ancestry.com has records for SAR applications, and those are either usable directly, or at least as a reference on how to prove the lineage if they are of common relations.

The DAR website and/or helper should be able to tell you the document requirements to prove lineage.

Help that helps a bit.

I am Gene Brakebill and I have a lot of Brakebill data. However, I have your grandparents as John Jacob Brakebill and Velma Henderson and great grandparents as Thomas Leech Brakebill and Elizabeth Caroline Gray. Am I wrong? Thomas L Brakebill's parents were John Jacob Brakebill and Hester Reagan and his parents were Peter Brakebill and Jane Thompson. Then comes another Peter Brakebill and Catherine Rorex (or Roarks.)This last Peter was my 3x great grandfather.

You have it backwards. William Roy Brakebill married Foya Belle Johnson, and had 4 children. Beatrice Geraldine, James Thomas, (who was called JT all his life because his name was simply JT until he joined the military, and they made him give himself a name. So he chose James Thomas, but still went by JT.) Roy Dewayne? and Betty Lee were the other two children of William and Foya's.
If you have any other confusions please let me know. Also, there are still Brakebill's in Oklahoma, all you have to do is look in the right place hon.

Betty was my grandmother, she was a very sweet soul, and loved children very much. My mom says that my grandma Betty could learn a card game in one game, and then beat everyone at that game from then on out.
Beatrice, my grandma Betty's sister, adopted and raised me. I knew Grandma Brakebill (Foya Belle Johnson Brakebill), Uncle JT, Uncle Roy, and Grandma Betty. Grandpa Brakebill (William Roy Brakebill) passed away years before I was born.

!2/13/1824----7/12/1913 and Docia Perkins 4/10/1828---6/20/1885. There were 10 other children, if I have it right. I have this John married to Molly ?????. Do you have her name? This John was a 2nd cousin of my Grandfather George Washington Brakebill

I asked Gene about Rachel Brown and Indian descent earlier this year. His reply back to me was "I did not know Rachel Brown was daughter of an Indian Chief". (the story I had read had said she was, however, there were no facts to support it).

Not sure if he could help you or not.

I am trying to research Rachel Brown- married to Henry Brakebill, of my direct line. I have some tidbits that suggest she is the daughter of Cherokee Cheif Col. Richard Brown but I would like to strengthen this belief. If anyone has anything to add I would very much appreciate it!

Apparently the mother was not married as her child, Elizabth, Jr., had the name Brakebill. Does anyone have any info regarding these Elizabeth's??

Hello! I am Cheryl Lee Brakebill-Anderson. My mother is Patricia Ann Brakebill (McKenzie, Cadwell) She has since passed as of 1999. My father is Gregory Lee Brakebill, who has another daughter, Christine Brakebill-Huckins, who is not my mother's daughter, but just as beautiful. I believe her mother is Jane Elmore.
