I just noticed that my other posts were under the name of Louella Braman Schmidt not CLBSED. However, both are one and the same. Has anyone made any new discoveries on our elusive Braman family? As I've previously stated, now that I know ggfather's Anjou work was a fabrication, I am stuck. Louella

Hi Larry,

As you have read, I am a great grand daughter of the first CAB. Although, I have a couple of the photos that you posted, I am enjoying the others. I have a couple of them that you have not showed and that you might enjoy. Perhaps, we could exchange other family data? Please e-mail me at CLAUDIALBS@aol.com.

Thanks, Louella

You said your Aunt had married him and this is true. I have met 2 of his grandsons from his daughter Ruth Delight Braman. I would love to know any information you could share.
I am descended from Stephen Braman. I live near the cemetery where he is buried. His father's tombstone is there also along with several other family members. Some of the stones are unreadable but if there is something you want me to find out, I will check it out for you. The cemetery is in the northwest corner of Ohio, close to Michigan and Indiana.
Sandy Wagner

Whose wife was the Cynthia of Hopkinton?

I have a question concerning Cynthia Brayman. The Rhode Island Cemetery data for Hopkinton provides that she was born abt 1765 and died 1838 Nov 5.

Previously I had assumed that this Cynthia was the Cynthia Stedman, who married (1783) John Braman Jr. (b. 1765). But now I have noticed that John's brother Joseph (b. abt 1763) also married a Cynthia. Since John and Joseph were both having families during the same time period, it seems logical that there were two Cynthias.

I tend to associate Cynthia Stedman with the South Kingstown area. And Joseph's children were born in the Hopkinton area. So I wonder whether the Cynthia Brayman buried in the Hopkinton Cemetery might have been Joseph's wife, rather than John's?

Now John is said to have subsequently married (2) Mary Park and (3) Eunice Cheseborough. If John's Cynthia was not the Cynthia of the Hopkinton Cemetery, then perhaps John's Cynthia may have passed before John married Mary.

How am I connected? My connection is speculative. I am a descendent of William Wilson (b. 1801 SK) who married (1828 Wakefield) Mary Braman (b. 1813 SK). I am speculating that Mary was a daughter of John Brayman (b. 1783) who married (1804 SK-1B:228) Susannah Sherman, where John was a son of John Brayman Jr. (b. 1765) who married first Cynthia Seadman.

Could you share what you have from Silas to now. I do have Silas in my file in preparation someday of connecting your family to the rest of the Braman clan. No one seems to connect Isaac Braman born in 1769 to anyone? Strange. Do you know? Thanks for writing.

Dennis

Has anyone found a real link to the other Bramans that have come from England? I have researched alot of sites and seen other peoples trees but there has been no proof of a tie that I have found.
Hi:
Maybe we can fill some data in! Your Joseph Braman might have married my great-aunt, then Ruth M. Boerger, up in Jamaica New York. I don't have marriage date but they were divorced in Reno in 1927 (I don't have that but have information that is accurate). They had one daughter, also named Ruth. Does any of this sound familiar? If so, contact me and we can share more.

Henry B. Braman, Civil War veteran

A while back, an item was posted about the return of Henry's Bible (which he carried while imprisoned at Andersonville) to the Easthampton Historical Society. There was a statement therein that Henry never married, which didn't seem right to me. I finally got around to researching it. He did marry--twice, in fact. Information about the first marriage (which I have from notes I made from the family Bible for our branch) is confirmed by MA Vital Records of 1841-1910 (online at New England Ancestors, although to view the database one must be a NEHGS member). Henry Braman married Sarah Elizabeth Birney 5 April 1869 in--oh rats, I think it was Easthampton! On 1870 census Sarah, Henry, and George (~6 mos old) were living in Easthampton. On 1880 census, Sarah, Henry and George (11 years old) were living in Torrington, CT. Henry worked at the brass mill (Coe Brass, or whatever preceded it, later on American Brass). No 1890 census, of course. On 1900 census (and all subsequent through 1930) Henry is married to Amelia. On 1930 census, when Henry is 88 (!) Amelia is 71 (I think--younger than Henry, anyhow) and they have been married for 43 years, which puts their marriage date at about 1887. Henry and Sarah's son George married Eunice Helme Meeker; they had Arthur Henry on 4 Aug 1897 (thanks for the lookup, Belle!), and Sarah was born 26 Oct 1909. Only those two children on 1930 census. I don't know Henry's exact death year, but my mother (b 1924) remembers him riding in an open car for Torrington's parades (Armistice Day and Independence Day) "during the 1930s," as the town's oldest surviving Civil War veteran. Given what a child remembers at what age, that might have been as late as 1934 or 1935.

Belle, IF you are ever at the Town Hall again, and can find where Henry is buried, I would like to register his grave with the Sons of Union Veterans organization. (We could always have another luncheon at THAT cemetery!)

Hi! The Johnstons go back a ways. Enos Lewis Braman[ son of James Braman] married Lydia Johnston. Her parents were Cyrus Johnston b.1772 and Polly Harvey b.1772. His father, Col. Robert Johnston and his brother, Charles, and their father Michael served in the Revolution. In all their children ,I do not find the name William. Of course, I probably do not have all of them. [ I am looking for James Bramans first wifes name who probably died abt 1794. I think it might help me figure out who his parents were.] Sorry I'm not more help.

My husbands James Braman married Abigail Dewey 1795 and she is the mother of his ancestor, but she isn't the mother of James older children. I think if I can figure out who all he was married to, it would lead to more family and a way to James father?? You will need to contact me at my e-mail address. Thanks! Karen

Hi all- My brother and I have persued this Lefler line for three years and we are down to the children of this marriage trying to see if the line still exists. One of their children was a Herbert Braman who severed in the Army Air Corps during WWII and is buried in the National Cemetery at Calverton,LI,NY. A son Joseph died in 1955 and a daughter Lucy was 22 in 1930 but still unmarried. They lived in Ohio and then in Jamica,LI and areas.
The Braman descendency is from Ella Francis Collins b. 24 March 1850 in Brighton, Suffolk, Mass married Joseph Balch Braman s/o Issac Gordon Braman and Caroline Williams Balch, thence Joseph M, Susan Caroline, Joseph C, Joseph Herbert and Ella Angela. These are just some names. Apparrently the family came to NY from Mass where he then met the Gertrude Lefler. Any help to fill in or extend our search would be very much appreciated?
I'm looking for information about a Bertha Francis (Suda) Braman. All I know so far is that she was born in New York, a daughter of John W. Suda and Marie B. Cadek (both from Czechoslovakia)

Bertha had a brother also named John, and a sister named Jennie (or sometimes listed as Johanna). She was first married to Karl (aka Charles) Kacena and they had a daughter named Diana.

After Karl Kacena died, I'm told she moved to Florida and remarried (maybe not in that order).

I would like to reconnect with this lost branch or my family line and would appreciate any infomation anyone can share.

Might read postings starting with the beginning of the Braman surname board and best of luck where ever you find your ancestors.
