Good morning!

My husband, Anthony L. Raider, is the great grandson of Reuben P. Hartley and Mary Bramble. Tony's mother is Gladys Marie Hartley Raider. Her parents died when she was young and Tony does not much information on the family. Any information you would like to share would be terrific! My daughter and I try to take photos of the graves when possible but would love any information as to the cemeteries where people are buried.

Thank you for your help!

Chuck, I will see if I can trace down a person in Loogootee that my have the history of our branch of the Padgett family. I can go back to James Baker as my 2nd great grandfather by the 1850, 1860 & 1870 census.

By the way, my sister, who is 75, remembers Earl and Edith. She remembers the families visiting with each other. She thinks my mother went to Indianapolis to visit them when she was a young girl. I would love a photo of them if you have one.

Have a great day...Carolyn McKay, West Lafayette, IN

Hello, I do believe we are cousins. My grandfather, Thomas Eggleston Padgett (1882-1951), was a brother to Charles E Padgett (1896-1976). My branch of the family is
now located in W. Lafayette, IN.

My other grandfather was Richard Walter Jones (1872-1951). His mother was Sarah Ann Bramble (1838-1907). She was a sister to Margaret Caroline Bramble Padgett. I will be going down to Loogootee later next month for the Jones Reunion. I have visited the St Joseph Cemetery in Bramble and St Mary's cemetery in Daviess Co. several times.

I often wonder if my Padgett side of the family is related to Charles W Padgett (1799-1893). They have a story in Ancestry.com on his page as to his travels from Maryland to Ky to Indiana. There is no record of his father or his brothers names.

By the way, I have not found any record of children for Charles Earl and Edith Padgett in Ancestry.com. Could you help me with that info?

Have a good day....Carolyn

I'm from that line of Padgetts as well. My Grandfather was Charles Earl Padgett and was married to Edith O'Brien of Bramble. A member of the Kidwell clan lived next door to them in Indianapolis and were cousins and their eldest daughter Stella Irene married a Williams from the same church in Bramble. I've been to the cemetary at St. Josephs Church in Bramble and have photos of many of the family gravestones if you think that would be helpful. I'm interested in learning when our line arrived in Indiana and where they came from. I've heard Kentucky and Maryland theories but no facts.

I have just begun looking into the Padgett side of my family. I have very little written info. My grandfather, Thomas Eggleston Padgett, was a brother to Rebecca J. Padgett Kidwell, Stella Padgett George, Ezra Padgett, George Padgett, Jr. etc. I remember Rebecca being called "Bessie" by the family. I do have a memory of some of the others in the Padgett family. I would love to see the obit of George F. Padgett 1856-1936 (my gg grandfather). I have some info on Caroline Margert Bramble 1854-1912. I am trying to find out the father and mother of George F. Padgett. I have James Baker Padgett 1826-1870 but do not know if this is correct. Please contact me if you have any info and I will certainly give you any info that I may have on the Padgett or Bramble families.

Hi I am trying to figure out of my John E. Bramble married a Sarah Ann Thomas or a Sarah J Sara J Crossley and was he born in??

Hi my name is Kristen and I would like to find more info on my Ancestor John E. Bramble Born August 12, 1833 I always though he married Sarah Ann Thomas in Washington County Maryland. But now I see where a John E. Bramble was born in either MD or DE married a Sarah Ann Thomas or a Sara J. Crossley both of the John E. Bramble was born August 12, 1833, so what I would like to know is where was my John E. Bramble born and who did he marry Sarah Ann Thomas or Sara J. Crossley and where was he born in MD or DE.

I always though my Ancestor John E. Bramble Born August 12, 1833 married Sarah Ann Thomas on March 9, 1855 in Washington County Maryland

But I know my Ancestor John E. Bramble and his wife either Sarah Ann Thomas or Sara J. Crossley had a son named John T. Bramble Sr born in 1841 probably in Allegany County Maryland (Western Maryland) who married a Eliza Ann Rice.

So again was John E. Bramble born in MD or DE and who did he marry Sarah Ann Thomas or Sara J. Crossley and when/where did he die, did he die in DE, Allegany County Maryland or Baltimore County Maryland, thanks to who might know.

John Bramble (1852?) - Stepney, London, England

Trying to locate a birth certificate or anything to give me a clue to the date of birth of John Bramble (parents: John Bramble and Hannah Stow) , born 1852 (approx) in Stepney, London, England (according to census). He lived there until 39 – 49 when he moved to Salford, Lancaster, England. I am also struggling to locate his marriage to Adelaide Jane Richardson (according to census they married between 1881 – 1891) and she was 7 years younger than him.

If anyone could help with this or give me any indication to why they are missing it or when to direct my search it would be a great help and appreciated, this is a big hole in my tree at present, thanks for reading!

Hello Timothy,

Oh the frustration of that possible connection.I have been looking for that for almost 20 years! It has led me to undertake a one name study of BRAMBLE. I have all the Bramble births and marriages and most deaths taken from the GRO indexes from July 1837 to 1980. Added to that list there are many pre civil registration Bramble bmd's that I have found and recorded. As to Winchester I have had a number of contacts who like yourself have contacted me.
I am quite happy to do look ups for you in my records. No charges made other than postage if required.

The Hampshire, (Southamptonshire) Brambles I have listed by registration districts and by families. I Also have some emigrations listed, one from the Winchester area. Let me know if I can help. Dennis. d.bramble@mypostoffice.co.Uk

hello Helen,

For 20 years I have been researching the Bramble families of Kent, England. In fact I think we may be related? I came up against a brick wall with the son of my great uncle Richard. Could that son, also Richard be one and the same Bramble? Richard born at Hoo St Werburgh 21-9-1904. Married Eva Mary Ann Brown. Was Clive R.born 1928 and married in 1954 to a lady named Green? Daughter Helen B. was born 4th Quarter 1955. Richard's father was my grandfathers brother.

I have almost a complete history of the Kent Bramble lines from 1760. Love to hear from you. A lady in New Zealand is also looking for your family.

Kind regards, Dennis Bramble.

Hello Victoria,

Your thank you posting of about the year 2000 has onlyjjust come to my notice. Was that to me, Dennis Bramble after I sent you details of your Kent Connections? I never knew if you received my information or not. I have not heard from Lee Fletcher for a long time but I did meet her parents last year.

The reason for this email is that I have just found on Rootsweb your posting of 28th August 2000.

Recent research by myself has shown that Lillie Bramble, younger sister of Dora, born 1898, married Stanley Hall in 1923 in Newcastle and a daughter Audrey J. was born 4th.Qaurter 1927. Audrey married in 3Q, 1949 to eric H. Holmes. There were I believe at least three children of the marriage and if this is correct I think their names are, Susan L, 3Q 1950, Christopher H. 2Q 1953 and Diane 3Q 1959.

You may already know this. If you would like further details
I will I will try to supply them.

Kind regards, Dennis Bramble.

Hi Helen, you say your dad was Clive Bramble and Grandad was Rchard Bramble were they both from Gravesend or were either from Gloucestershire which is where my dad and other ancestors hail from. I do recall another Bramble family were in the North Kent area at the time. I think my dad mentioned them but don't recall the names. How far back did you get with your family ?So far I managed to get back to 1655. Again in the Gloucestershire area. I might be able to assist if I can I will..If it helps and we are connected I will give you an invite to my site. All the best hope to hear from you again. David Bramble

More than likely he brought my ancestors to the Caribbean as slaves. The information that I received through a birth certificate search about my father, grandmother and great grandmother, showed at the time my father was born, slaves were not allowed to get married or the child was not allowed to take the name of the father who impregnated the woman. My father's original birth certificate had no last name but when the laws changed and my grandmother was allowed to marry, that is when my father received his last name on the birth certificate (Bramble), which matched my the name on the marriage license. On my father's original birth certificate, there was an X for his grandmother's name, his mother's name was written (without her last name) and she was listed as spinster although she and my grandfather were together but weren't allowed to marry.

I managed to receive some information about my father's mother and grandmother through a birth certificate search in Montserrat.

Hi DAGA, your message is very old, but I was just reading this string. I'm sorry I couldn't answer you before your brother's illness. My grandfather was also named James Bramble and he was from Mason County, Kentucky. He was born later though in 1900. His father's name was Charles Bramble and died of small pox around 1908 at 30 years old, so he was probably born around 1870. His mother's name was Maude Alexander and his grandmother Jenny Alexander all from the same area. I'm wondering if Charles was one of the sons of your ancestor James and then he named his son after your relative. So maybe that would make us distant relatives.

My grandfather ended up being taken in as an apprentice by a local doctor in Ewing, Kentucky. He became a barber as a young man and married my grandmother, Audrey (Cooke) Bramble, from Sadieville, KY. He got together with a group of his friends and started the Lexington Roller Mill on the site of Rupp Arena. They closed the mill in the 60s and sold the land to the state two years before they decided to build Rupp Arena. If he had waited, I would have been a much richer lady. He started from nothing and became a very wealthy man for his time. I think all of my entrepeneural spirit and strong work ethic came from this Bramble line.

Death Record needed

My distant cousin, Byron Eugene (Bob) Bramble, Jr. died June 1950 in either Rockton or Chicago, Illinois in June 1950 at age 47. For my use in tracing a family inherited medical condition, I need his cause of death. Can anyone find either an obituary, or have access to death certificates which would provide this information? I have been unable to find the cause via the Internet.

Hi,

I notice you have made alot of posts about the bramble family... Was just wondering if you have any information on the bramble family in Lyme Regis, Dorset, England?

This is where my trail runs cold for me with John and Sarah bramble
