My mother is a Branaman and has always wanted to know more about her side of the family. As far as I can trace it I have found:

My Grandfather Henry Paul Branaman (1931-2009)

His Father was Clarence U Branaman (1878-1951)
I believe this is him in the 1880 Census but it has him listed as Female
Attached Image.

Clarence's Father Levi Branaman (1840-1894) and Mother Catherine S Eddy (1854-1905)

Levi's Father was Peter Branaman (1800-1865) and Mother Elizabeth Spaid (1807-1888)

Hope you still check this and will have info in your book. Thanks,

Justin Herron

My husbands great-grandmother was Rebecca Brandman born in Odessa in around 1880. She had brothers called Isidore, Benjamin, Solomon and Harry and two sisters called Anna and Esther. Her father was Pesach and mother was Dora Rogelle. We have always believed that there was one other brother who we understood was in England, but have never been able to find anything about him.

If any of this sounds familiar it would be lovely to hear from someone.

JO

I believe I have found another John M. Branaman who is the same as my John Branaman. This is really confusing.
1. John M. Branaman, born 1824 in Garrard KY (no proof of that, and suspected to be the son of Abraham Branaman, KY) first shows up in records in October 1847 in Garrard County KY when he marries Rachel Ann Carpenter. About 1850 they travel to Missouri. They have 6 children, the first in Kentucky, the rest in Missouri.

Then This John Branaman disappears about 1860 leaving his family alone.

2. JOhn M. Branaman (b. ca 1827, KY according to Census records) shows up in Arapahoe County Colorado when he marries Elizabeth R. Wright. They have four boys. They move to Yavapi and Pinal Counties in Arizona.

Too many similarities, but no proof.

Hi:
In the past year I became aware that I was included in the family tree of the Melchior Brenneman family. My Father's name is included in the geneology.

I came by the book, published after 1900 in the Lancaster County Historical Center in Lancaster. Pa.

I learned about this connection from a 95 year old aunt shortly before her passing.
Since the Brenemans were a second wave of pioneer Mennonites that established themselves in Chester/Lancaster County between 1708 and 1717 this Historical Center can be an excellent source.

My John M. Branaman was born in 1824 in or around Garrard Co. Kentucky. It is possible he may be a son of Abraham Branaman and Elizabeth Putt Heneem. He married Rachel Carpenter, possibly a cousin, November 9, 1847 in Garrard County KY.

Together they had 6 children. William Steward Branaman, James Hawthorne Branaman, Mary Elizabeth Branaman, Robert Branaman, Samuel Hastings Branaman, and Sarah Ann Branaman. He disappeared around 1860. Family tale was he was killed by Indians in a wagon train that left St. Joseph MO. There is also speculation that he left and changed his name.

I have not been able to connect him to Abraham but everything points in that direction. No proof though.

If this is your family I have some descendent information but nothing concrete before him.

Thanks for any help that can be given.
K.
Could this be an alternate spelling? She married Job DeHaven in 1790 near Philadelphia. Abigail West is also a relative.

Thank you,

Frank DeHaven

My husband is John T. Branaman. His lineage goes back to Kentucky, Virginia, etc. and I have information I will be glad to share with you if you wish to email me. If you can post a little more info re: your John Branaman, such as dob., spouse, etc. I may can find him in our Branaman Book. The name has been changed through the years from Brennerman to several other spellings and anything you can give me in the way of finding John M. will give me a start. My husband also has West lines in Kentucky. Thanks!!
