Classification: Query
Surnames: BRAND / KOHLER / NIEMANN / COLER / NEUMANN
Maria BRAND and Christian KOHLER were the
parents of Christian Friedrich Wilhelm KOHLER,
who immigrated to the United States in 1863.
Currently, we have no information as to whether
Maria BRAND and her husband, Christian KOHLER
immigrated to the US. But, the marriage record
of their son (mentioned below) shows that Maria
was deceased by the date of that wedding,
11 Nov 1868.
Both Sophia (the name she used) and Christian
were born in Germanic Europe. Sophia, in 1842,
in an unknown loaction; and Christian, in 1837,
in the Federal State of Brandenburg, Prussia.
They married in 1868 in Wolcottsville, Niagara
County, New York, in a Lutheran Church - where
the record was written in German. But, we know
that they were in Macon County, Missouri by 1870.
My husband's family has passed-down verbal
memories, and a picture, which indicate that
Christian (the one who immigrated in 1863) and
his wife,
Christiane Sophia Dorothea NIEMANN / NEUMANN
were in northeast Iowa for a short time before
settling Liberty Twp, Macon County, Missouri.
I am continuing a 35 year ongoing search for
information about this couple. As you would
expect, we have seen both of their surnames
spelled a number of different ways.
We know that Sophia's parents also immigrated
and ended up in Macon County, Missouri. They
were Mary Elizabeth and Henry NEUMANN / NIEMANN.
We have much information, about Sophia's &
Christian's descendants. Do they fit into
your family anywhere? Do you happen to know
any information about any siblings these people
might have had? We are willing to share.
