My GrGrandfather-in-Law was William Jacob Brandenburg of Brewton, Alabama (1871-1907)My Wife knows nothing about this person. It's obvious there is a relationship. WJB (Jr.?) was the Night Marshal on Brewton. Can you tell me more of what you know about the Brandenburgs of Brewton? I do know there is a Brewton and Weaver lineage but that's all. Thank you........

Yes, they are the parents of my Grandmother, Threecy Brandenburg. Who married my Grandfather Elias Haught. I guess that makes us cousins in some way, not sure if that would be third or what.

Just in case anyone besides me ends up reading these posts:

Grace and Gracie may be two different children. I'm not sure. My guess is that the birth was recorded twice, but I sure could be wrong. Susie Wise had a Gracie and Susie Brandenburg had a Grace.

My Grandmother, Grace was born in 1913 according to my mom. Gracie was born to Susie Brandenburg in 1916.
Unless they named another child Gracie, it seems there was an extra recording under the Brandenburg name.

The "Gracie" mentioned in one of the above posts.

Grace was my Grandmother.

Rachel was my great-grandmother by marriage. So, if Lucian is the same Lucian we are probably related by marriage.

My mom, Grace's daughter, just told me that Lucian had 11 children. Herbert, Jack, Forrest, Lester, Conley,

Grace, Iona, Susie, Maude Elizabeth, Thelma (little sister who died), Eva Lilian,

Ran across this post while searching for my mom for "Susie Wise Brandenburg". My spelling is probably wayyy off on the names.

Grace married Arvus Harris McCloud.

Would really like to know how old Susie was when she died if anyone has that info.

Thanks for replying,Sandy! While Charles Brandenburg Jr did indeed come to the USA, he didn't live in Iowa. He married in Indiana and then moved to Boston, before spending many years in various locations around the world. He returned to Rhode Island at the end of his life and died there.
So, not a match, but I do appreciate hearing from you. Happy holidays!

I am researching any Brandenburgs from Iowa from around 1864 to present that may have had a relative named Johanna Maria Brandenburg born in 1858. She married Anton Kreucher who migrated from Germany to Clinton Iowa in about 1869. They were married in 1873 (I have the marriage certificate but the parents names are listed Mr. & Mrs. Brandenburg)
Johanna's mother is buried in Oakland Cemetery (dying in Nov of 1880 at my great grandparents home)

I can not find any information about his ancestors other than supposedly he had an uncle named Matthias. Frederick (born 01/01/1775)nd his brother were sent to America by their mother to avoid the war. He eventually settled in Anderson, Indiana and supposedly his brother settled in Ohio.
Do you have any information?
Thanks,
Tresa Huggins

I am researching my grandfather, Martin Schafer, and have a letter from William Brandenburg of Schenectady New York which was sent in January 9, 1922. William was a cousin of Martin Schafer who lived in Cincinnati, Ohio. Martin Schafer was born in Germany and came to US in 1902. Letter names an Uncle Louis Hendricks. Letter is written on Schenectady Piano Repair Shop. My grandfather, Martin, lived in Amsterdam New York when he first cam to US before moving to Cincinnati. I am seeking more information about the relatives in New York so I can get more information about Martin's family in Germany. Thanks.

MacKzie,
I found Eve and Alfred Fredrick on findagrave.com. They are buried in Crown Hill Cemetery, Knox, Starke Co., IN.

No other Fredricks are buried in that cemetery, but a couple of others are buried in Starke Co. You might want to check them out.

I checked for a marriage license, but nothing that recent was available on line.

If you're related, you can probably order a death certificate. That should have Eve's maiden name and possibly her parents' names, including mother's maiden name.

Good luck!

Greetings I have Brandenburg blood also. My gradfather was William Edward Brandenburg (also called Will). His father was William E (possibly William M.) That's as far as I've been able to find out on this family. This particular family moved to Indiana and Illinois.

Re: Wm Heinrich, Matthias, Jacob -- Father's Ancestry?

I am not sure when you posted your message but I am now in the Neatherlands and I will be trying to find out the military information of Friedrich of Brandenburg and the ships that the different Brandenburg sailed on. I will email you (Free) my findings. I am from the Alexander Brandenburg family line.
There is something you must know.
Different decendents of the different Brandenburgs did DNA tests over the past 5 years.
Mathias and William Henrich are from a rare DNA that is from the Levite tribe of the Jewish people thus they have no other families other then themselves that match up at Familytree DNA web site.
In another email if you email me back I will give you the name of the man incharge of the Brandenburg DNA project through Familytreedna, com and you can contact him by email and he can send you by email the results (no cost)
The other family of Brandenburgs that the DNA matched prefectly to the point that all but one of 67 markers matched each other but did not in any way match Mathias and William Henrich was the South Carolina Johannes line and the Alexander Brandenburg line that settled on the farm Chance in 1779 (land deed) in a farm area of the south east edge of Fredrick county, Maryland. Mathias and William Henrich's line were from just west of the town of Fredrick in Fredrick County Maryland.
my email adress is agnescolvin@yahoo.com
Jacob Brandenburg is a hard one. The reason why is that both families had a Jacob Brandenburg and they were born within about 15 years of each other and one died in 1828 who was son of Alexander and the other Jacob left a will that was turned into the Fredrick County court house in about 1832 whose father was Samuel Brandenburg. Samuel was believed but not confirmed from William Henrich's and Mathias's line.(US census 1792 Fredrick Co. MD) We have no one who has done a DNA from either of the Jacob Brandenburg or Samuel lines to my knowledge. DNA test run about $135 I think. Please email me if anyone wishes to know this information
We need DNA test from male Brandenburgs of these families saying they are from Jacob Brandenburg who died between 1820 and 1840 and from Fredrick Co. Maryland or from Samuel.
Beth Colvin date July 30, 2011

Eve Brandenburg

I am looking for information about the above listed person. She married Alfred Frederick/Fredrick in 1957. Alfred was born in Gillett, WI, and Eve has connections to Indiana, although I don't know if she was born there.

I believe that Brandenburg might have been the surname from Eve's first marriage. I also believe there was a child from the first marriage.

Eve was born in 1917 and died in 2005.
Alfred was born in 1921 and died in 1976.

Any help with information about Eve would be greatly appreciated.

His mother was Adelheid or "Heidi" His family also dropped the 'er' as well. We trace them back to Switzerland along the Rhine in Aargau which is on the border of Germany.

If you have more information on your Brandenburgs, I would like to share.
The picture I posted is my great grandfather and his wife (W. E. or W.W. Brandenburg and Mary Jane Cruzan Brandenburg). I would be very interested in seeing the other photos you mention. The name Lewis Henry could give me a much needed lead.

Isabelle -- My father is George Henry Brandenburg, born 1929, son of Wilfred (William Frederick) Brandenburg. He knows about you from the ceremony held at the library a few years ago, but he didn't know how to find you. I have recently started putting our family tree together and found your post. His email is gbb.burg@gmail.com and he would love to hear from his cousin! Sue (Brandenburg) Schaub
