www.worldconnect.com lists (John)James Washington Brank
b. 1822 Buncombe County, NC -
father: Robert Huston Brank b. 15 Sept 1777 Burke County, NC
died 29 Dec 1845 Reems Creek, Buncombe County, NC
married Elizabeth Rice on 22 May 1801 Bunchombe County, NC

Annie Bright born 3 Jun 1874
father: Tobias Bright
mother: Mary Jane Martin
9 children all born listed as born Buncombe County, NC
Tobia Bright married also # 2 Lizzie Clark on 6 May 1841
3 more children born in Campobello, Spartanburg County, SC
tobias died in Fairview, Buncombe County, NC

some of these facts are also listed on the Latter Day Saints site.

in the 1880 Federal Census of the USA:

Washington Brank
b. 1822 - age 58 born NC - laborer, widower
fathers birthplace: NC
mother's birthplace: NC

Census Place: Reems Creek, Buncombe County, NC

Household: Salina Brank, daugher - single - b. 1866, age 14 born NC
keeping house.

Apparently Annie Bright Brank was deceased in 1880.

In the 1800 Buncombe County, NC Census - Asheville Town is listed a Robert Brank - probably Washington Branks father

You probably have all of this information by now, but thought i would send it just in case you did not. This is not my line, but Tobias Bright of Spartanburg County, SC had son Culvin Bright, then Manley Bright down to my brother - that is my step-brothers line.

Hi! if you go to www.google.com and type in under "advanced search":
social security death index - you can find a good bit of infor - especially if you play around with it a bit.

I didn't find anything under the full name of Daniel Boon Brank, but by putting in just the last name and the year 1977 this is what came up:

Daniel Brank
born 23 February 1920, died August 1977 Flint, Genesee, MI
and gives his social security number. 247 07 6191 the card was issued in South Carolina. If you can log on to that site and type in just BRANK
and 1977 - they you can see on the right that there is a place to put a "post em" message (for others researching same person/family) and also a place to click to send for the record. Usually the record will have the name of the parents and other information.

You could also write for records to Flint, MI for the obituary and it will probably give the name of the funeral company which will have other records. Since you know it is in August you could also contact the newspapers in that area and ask for an obituary in August of 1977 and give the full name. Most newspapers have these in a file in the computers these days. the county of Genesee library will also have that - you could look them up under USGENWEB and go to state of Michigan and then to the county of Genesee and look at their listings of libraries, or you could use www.yahoo.com and look for "people search" and then their list for "other" - type in LIBRARIES and the county - probably will get a hit -
Let me know if I can help - this is not my line - but if you do go back far enough to Culvin Bright, I can help.

Jean Coleman
