Hobbs News-Sun obit, dated 3 Sept 1953. William was my g-grandfather.
Funeral services were held this morning at the Baptist Church in Monument for William R. Brannon, 67 years old, who died Tuesday at his home in Monument.
Rites were conducted by the Rev. Frank Maddox, pastor of the church. Burial was in Red (*note: should be Rest) Haven cemetery in Midland (*note: TX) under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home of Hobbs.
Brannon, a pumper for the Great Western Production Co., had lived in Monument 11 years. He is survived by the following:
His widow, Mrs. Callie Brannon; two sons, W.H. (*note: William Howard) and Eddie Brannon, both of Monument; a daughter, Mrs. G.G. (*note: George Goble) Henley, Odessa; and a sister, Mrs. H.C. Chapman, Pyote (*note: TX).
My note: not mentioned is another sister, Ida Lou Brannon Drake, who preceded him in death in 1949. Ida was buried in Carlsbad, NM. If anyone knows anything about this family, please share. I have no information on the sister, Mrs. H.C. Chapman, or who William's parents might have been.
