My grandfather's name was John Henry Branscomb (step grandpa). He at one time lived in Kingsford Heights. However, he lived in LaPorte Indiana for years before he died. I should mention that he was African American. He was born in Illinois to Robert Branscomb (12-25-1892 to Jan. 1984). He had several children with his first wife. I think her name was Marion (or something similar). After they divorced, he married my grandmother Minnie Adams. She is caucasion. If any of this pertains to you, pls let me know.

Hi Paul,

I haven't heard from you in awhile and just found this 2004 answer to my posting. I think Della Garrett and Charles Frank Buckley were md. around 1900, but I don't know where. Della and Charles Edward Tolbert were md. in 1919 in Jackson Co. Cynthia was Eddie Newman's mother, and I think she and Charles Henry Newman were divorced.

Margie EMS Branscum - 1893 - 1976

I am looking for any information on Margie Branscum who was born about 1893 in Arkansas and who died in 1976. She was my great-grandmother. My grandfather was Sherman Treat born in 1916 in Arkansas. Her husband and my great-grandfather was William Mason Treat - Son of John Stephen Treat and Josephine Huffines.

I only know her approximate birthdate from Census records after she married William Mason. I have one photo of her with another man identified on the back of the photo as JC Branscum son of Jim Branscum. My mother says that it is a photo of her brother. Therefore, I think her brother is JC Branscum and her father is Jim Branscum but I don't have any other information. I would greatly appreciate any help in positively identifying her family. She lived in the Big Flat and Moro Arkansas areas in the mid 1900s. I also know that sometime after William Mason Treat died she remarried to a "Doc" Reid.
Ellen,
I'm a little confused. Hope that I can help.

Edward Tolbert was my grand-uncle. He is buried in Ridgewood Cemetery next to Della E. Tolbert, his wife.

1930 Census shows me that the Edward Tolbert Household consisted of Edward and Della, and listed as stepchildren the following:

Cynthia Newman, Stepdaughter, age 26
Garnet May Buckley, Stepdaughter, age 24
Eddie Newman, Stepson, age 9
Helen Newman, Stepson, age 8
Billie Newman, Stepson, Age 4
Melissa (?) Newman, Stepdaughter, age 7/12

I'm looking for Tolbert information primarily.

Do you know the marraige date for Edward Tolbert and Della? Della and her other spouse(s)?

Do you know why, if Cynthia married a newman, she is listed at home as a stepdaughter with the newman name?
