I believe your William Thomas Branum and my William Anderson Branham might be the same person. My William was born in Tennessee in 1836 and his whole family moved west to Kansas via Missouri as well. They lived in the Miami Kansas area. My great great grandfathers name was Theodore Ferdinand Bonparte Branum and he would be Williams brother. his parents were William and Nancy Branham, thats as far back as I have benn able to trace them.

Re: need more information about Branum family

I don't have any information about Branums in Iowa. All of my line seems to be Missouri/Tennessee/North Carolina.

Just a quick glance shows that Clarence E Branum (born 1 Mar 1884 according to his World War 1 draft card)was living in the Ayers household in Iowa. He's listed as a step-son to the head of the household, Monroe Ayers. The wife was Alice Ayers. This suggests that Clarence was the son of Alice.

There's an Alice Branam (the name is frequently spelled in a number of different ways)listed in the 1885 Iowa census, widowed, with a son Clarence (age 0)living with Lewis Baker. Lewis is listed as married.

So I'd guess that a Branam/Branum married Alice in about 1883, had a son Clarence, and the husband died about 1884. Alice, the widow, then lived with Lewis Baker. Alice married Monroe Ayers in 1891 (from the 1900 census)and had three more children. Unfortunately, the 1890 census was destroyed so we don't have any information about her in 1890. The 1925 census shows that Alice Ayers is widowed, her parents were Phil haymaker and Christina Wells.

Here's something really interesting. The 1910 Federal census shows Monroe and Alice Ayres living in Fremont County, Iowa, with daughter Corine and granddaughter Blanche Branyrm, age 2. Blanche's mother is listed as being born in Denmark. So that's where the Denmark connection comes in. Since the only child Alice seemed to have with her husband Branum (d 1884) was Clarence E Branum, then Blanche Branum/Branyrm was a daughter of Clarence E Branum, which would make her a sister or half-sister of Clarence A Branum, b 1920.

It looks like Blanche is listed twice in the 1910 census. She is also listed as living with her parents, Clarence and Iohanna (probably Johanna) Bramon in Thomas County, Nebraska, along with several other kids. Iohanna is listed as being born in Denmark.

Hope this gets you started. I have to go fix a leaky drain now.

I've been searching for almost 2 weeks for this person on the 1880 census. I think he might be my great great grandfather. His wife's name was Mary and son James. They may have been living in Smithville, MO or maybe in Lonoke or Prairie Counties, Arkansas in 1880. I have spelled Branum every way I can think of and used Theo, Bony, Ferdinand, and Bonaparte as given names. I have also searched using James Branum (whom I know for fact was my great grandfather) and I can find nothing.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Or does anyone have any information on Theodore? Thank

They married on 16 July 1899. They lived in Prairie, Arkansas. My grandfather was Lee Belve Branum and was born 6 Oct 1900. James' mothers name was Mary and he had 2 younger brothers, William Emmett Branum who was 16 in 1900 and Edward Branum who was 12 in 1900 both lived with their mother Mary who was born in Indiana. I do not know what Mary's maiden name was. James listed his father as being born in Tennessee.

Any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.
I am trying to find the maiden name of my Great Grandmother,Tolitha.
Tolitha (Holland immigrant age about 16), who married John
Branum and lived in Weston, Mo.; is burried there. Tolitha
had about 9 children (she was 4ft. 11in. tall). One of her
children, Agnes Branum was my grandmother on my Dad, Vernon
Darnell's side of the family. Don't know where John Branum's father lived before Mo. Thanks.

I hope you are out there looking. My gr.grandfather Thomas Branum wasborn in VA and spent all of his life (1823-1918) in Rockingham County. Between 1859 and 1882, he fathered six sons (Linus, George, Samuel, twins Jon and Jonathan, and my grandfather Hunter) plus two daughters Annie and Mary. I know nothing about Thomas's family except his father was also born in VA.

t

In the different trees and message boards I see no mention of Tarlton's oldest sons. In 1830 he is listed with two 15-20, one-10-15, one 5-10, and two under 5. Since the sons of William Branham 1850, Jackson Co., AL are mentioned by name as cousins in Solomon's Probate papers I believe William may be one of his oldest sons. BUT am looking for proof or some type of confirmation.

ANY HELP will be appreciated!!

BRANAM SURNAME DNA PROJECT includes a couple of BRANUM'S already

Hi Branum's

A Branam Surname DNA Project is underway. WE NOW HAVE 52 MEMBERS of various BRAN??? lines, including a couple of Branum's. 48 have received their results. To check it out GOOGLE: Branam DNA, click on the first surname link, or just click on this link:
www.familytreedna.com/public/Branam-all-Spellings/
click on the Y-Results wordtab. Wait a minute at first it looks like a blank white box. We have a donor for the Gabriel, one of the Benjamin, one of the Barnabas and several other Branham lines.

The DNA test can be used to prove the existence or the absence of a common ancestor. It will not prove who the common ancestor is, that is still up to you, but it can save a lot of barking up the wrong family tree. The project is open to all Branam's and variant spellings from anywhere in the world. I have seen my husbands ancestors line's spelled Branham, Brandon, Bronon,Branan, Brannon and the spelling my husbands line settled on Branam.

Samples for the project must be submitted by direct line male Branams. The test is based on the Y-Chromosome which only males have. Ladies you would need to find a brother, father, uncle, or cousin, who will provide a sample.

Always happy to answer any questions!!
Gary,
I'm actually looking for any information about Phineas A Ireton and Caroline Jones Ireton and their children. I believe I saw you had a connection to Aunt Lib (aka Lizzie Cora). I also noticed the name "Cora Maude." Maude Arnel Ireton Reid is my Great Grandma. I have contact with several people, cousins really, that are researching this family. I would love any info, pictures, stories, etc you might have.
