My husbands great-great-great grandfather, who was born in 1841 in Salford Lancashire England, fought in US Civil War assume approx 1861 - 1865. He is believed to have married in the US and his wife died in childbirth in the first year. He is known to have returned to England and remarried in 1869 and was a police officer in the London Met. until he retired. He died in Essex in 1925 aged 84 years.
