Do know that some ancestors of mine were in colonial MD and DE, but fail to make any connections.

Hello,
In NC, for 1900, I find a WILDON BRATCHER, Black who is head of household in Anderson Township, Caswell.
W/him are living IDA, EWAN, LELA, BALUKE, FORVEL, and KATIE
TAP.
CURIOUS to know if there is a connection here to the AA/Native WILDONS, WILDENS, WEELDONS, WEEDENS of NC, SC and
VA and hoping for some info of my ancestry.

What part of NC? I have a GGGrandfather fron Sampson county NC in the Census of 1830 listed as Olin Bradshaw, he is my block. he later was known as Olin Bratcher. GA.FL.Ak.

I'm trying to locate information on my Great-Grandfather, Squire Wells Sr. (1828-1858) from Lee Co., VA.

He married Julia Ann Henegar.

Their children were:

Eli Wells
Charles Henderson Wells (My grandfather)(1856-1924)
Sophia Wells
Squire Wells Jr.

I have traced Eli Wells down as marrying a " Bratcher " and I believe his brother Squire Wells Jr. also married a "Bratcher". They all lived in Campbell or Claiborne Co.,TN.

I'm wanting to connect these sons to see if there is more information on Squire Sr.

Any information at all would be greatly appreciated.

Tom (James Thomas) Bratcher was the son of William Bratcher and Martha Jane Shepherd. I have lots of info and photos on this family. Tom Bratcher was married twice and had several children. Would love to exchange info with you if you will provide your e-mail.

My mother is Gertrude (Blanton) DaSo. Maxine was her 1st cousin and 2 years older than my mom. My grandmother was Grace Edna (Bratcher) Blanton, Daughter of Jacob and Barbara Bratcher. Hi, Seems there were a lot of Bratcher's in GRayson Co., KY.I have the following from Grayson County, KY.

WILLIAM TUCKER BRATCHER’S PARENTS WERE WILLIAM BRATCHER b abt 1832 in Grayson Co., KY. and MARGARET JANE YOUNG b 7 Feb 1832, Warren, KY. They married on 07 Aug 1852.
I do have information going forward and backwards if your line connects.
I would love to know who the pictures are? Do you know the parents of Jacob Bratcher?

I'm African American with the last name Bratcher on the eastern shore of Maryland. I researched and found the origin of the Bratcher name came from England, Ireland, Germany.
Can anyone tell me the historical connection of that name applied to Africans brought to America.

Hello Vicki and Belinda! I am a Bratcher, and my family comes from Caneyville and, earlier, from Breckinridge County. I am trying to search that line of the family, and I am always interested in knowing more. I see reference to an old Bratcher letter in your posts and the posts of others on this board, and I was hoping that you might share a copy with me. I'm not sure if the people in your letter are the same line as me, but it would sure be nice to have a copy of it.

I am amassing quite a bit of information about the Bratchers and other families from the area (Hazelip, Vincent, Kebbell) and am just starting to put some of it on my website: www.timbratcher.com.

HI,
I am looking for a Bratcher who married a Margaret Stinson.
He must have died at an eary age as Margaret is listed as a widow when she married Blue Harrell. Margaret was born Nov 1801 and died April 1843. She is buried in the Miller Cemetery in Grayson County Kentucky. The marriage may have taken place in South Carolina or Kentucky.

In 1860 Greene Co., Ark. lived William M. Bratcher age 17. Helived in the home of Jefferson & Sarah Bratcher. Does anyone know what happened to him after 1860?
In Dodd City Texas is a gravestone that states: W.M. Bratcher Missouri CSA. It is beside a gravestone that states: Copeland Texas CSA
I believe the Copeland to be my G.G. Grandfather: William C. (Coplen) Copeland.

Oliver Perry Bratcher, Butler Co. Ky., (1824-1863)

For those of you who may be interested I would like to share the following information with you about my ggg-grandfather which I have uncovered and which does not appear to be presently available on the web. First, nowhere have I found an original source identifying Oliver's father. Nevertheless, I believe that his parents were Samuel and Rebecca Bratcher of Grayson County. This is mainly because: (1) Oliver's first wife was Eliza Cooper whose parents, Robert and Delila Cooper, lived on the farm adjacent to that of Samuel and Rebecca; (2) in 1856, while then living in Butler County, Oliver had some type of farming partnership with James J. Bratcher, son of Samuel and Rebecca; and (3) Thomas,another son of Samuel and Rebecca, reported serving with Oliver in the 12th Regiment of the Ky Calvary and being with him during his last days. Second, Oliver died in January or February, 1863 of measles at the Union army hospital in Munfordville. His second wife, Ellen, was born in probably January, 1836 and died July 12, 1919 in Grayson County.
