Classification: Query
Surnames: DAVIS, BRAUCH, DAVIES, PRICE, THOMAS, WALDRON, STOLTZ
When did Christopher die?
Was his wife Jennie's real name Jane? That is what I have listed, possibly from a census. I will have to look where I got that.
Who were William H. Davis' parents? Was it Jennie's father or Jennie's brother, or some other DAVIS family altogether? There is some question about what the last name actually was of Jennie, or her father or grandfather Thomas. Was it DAVIES or DAVIS? I see both at the reunion. Also, on Amelia BRAUCH's obit, it has her mother as Jennie DAVIES, father is Christopher BRAUCH, and her husband as William DAVIS. I contantly found Jennie's grandfather and father referred to as DAVIS on the censuses. Was it really DAVIES? I saw an article which was a biographical sketch of William E. DAVIES, not DAVIS. He was born in 1850 to Thomas and Mary (PRICE). It said he was a native from Merthyr Tydvill, South Wales. His father Thomas came to the US five years before William did (in 1867 - Thomas came in 1862. I don't know if you have this: William E. DAVIS was married to Amelia DEETS in 1870. She was from Nanticoke. They had thirteen children, six were living when this was written. "He had more mining and construction experience than any other man in the Anthracite region" of that time, having started in the mines as a young boy in Wales. He taught himself a lot, even higher sciences and math. "He was a master of all the mathematical technicalities of mining and civil engineering."
It also states that his father was a foreman on the D.S. & S.R.R. (railroads, I think).

Was the middle name of William C. DAVIS, Christopher, after his grandfather?

BRAUCH-DAVIS, marriage 1895
Issue of Thurs. Dec. 26, 1895
From Freeland PA Tribune Newspaper
"Will be married today by Rev. J.J. Kuntz of Coxe Addition, Freeland
Christie L. Brauch, residing Johnstown, formerly of Freeland
Miss Jennie Davis, daughter of William, of Coxe Addition
The couple will reside at Johnstown"

Don't know if I sent this before, but here are some of your ancestors' names. There are more listed, that I didn't include.
Hazleton PA Plain Speaker - "1st DAVIS Family Reunion held at Fey's Grove on Sunday with 100 present.
Aug 9 1937
Wilkes-Barre: Mrs. Jennie(DAVIS) Brauch, Lorraine Brauch, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Stoltz, Phyllis Stoltz, Mr. and Mrs. William Brauch, Betty Jane Brauch,..."

*See above that they referred to Jennie as "DAVIS" instead of "DAVIES."

My mom was well acquainted with Fran(ces) DAVIES, the daughter of Thomas DAVIES and Jane THOMAS (second wife of Thomas). Frances was William E.'s half-sister. Again, some people say her last name was DAVIS. I have pictures of Fran and her husband George THOMAS, their children Henry and Violetta, and Henry's wife Florence WALDRON. We are in contact with a son of Henry and Florence and some of the grandchildren. We have pictures of them also from Christmas cards. I wouldn't be able to send them, but could get you in contact with these people.
Keep in touch.
