Hello everyone. Frank Brautigan's parents were from Thuringia and Bohemia. He was born in Kenosha Wisconsin in about 1895. He lived there all his life and had these children: Jack Allen, my father, who married my mother in 1944 in Racine Wisconsin. He was a gunner pilot in the Army Air Corps during WWII. His sisters were Marion (Sebetic), Bonnie, Neil, all of Kenosha. He also had a second marriage Near Chicago Illinois. They had a son who is named David, I think. I believe my father is buried somewhere in Northern Illinois. I emailed a guy (last name Brautigan) in Tennesee for while, but we couldn't find any connection. Does this ring a bell with anyone? Thanks!

Hi, there! I wish I could answer you immediately, but it's been 8 years since I wrote my post, and my files are packed away. The Brautigams are a collateral line to mine. However, I did that work before I got computerized, and it's on paper in a box. I'll add it to my to-do list!

This sounds very much like the Brautigam family I am researching. I have Herman, born in 1865 in Germany, immigrated together in 1890, was a warper, married to Marie Louise Friedel born in 1866. Their children were Herman born in 1892, Curtis born in 1893, William Paul born in 1896, Martha (my husband's grandmother) born in 1898 and Charles who was a stocking knitter, born around 1901. I am just starting to get information on everyone. Herman Jr. married Matilda "Tillie" and they lived in Paterson with their two sons, Curtis and Robert. Curt was married to Frances Conner and had a daughter Evelyn. William Paul was married to Helen and had a son William and 2 daughters- Norma and Lois. Martha, married Archie Adams and had a son Archie and a daughter Barbara Jane. Charles lived in Midland Park, was married to Jeanette De Black and had 4 children. I would be interested in any information you have and also your relationship to this family.

I am searching for information on a Pauline Brauetigam, the only daughter of Johann Brauetigam of Belvorde(sp?) Germany. She appears as a sponsor to an Emil Wunderlich in October 1859 at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Altenburg, Mo. In 1861 she marries Frederick Hermann Weber. Would you happen to have a date of birth on Pauline that you mention in your lineage?

Hi nanaf5,
Thanks so much for your quick response. When you run across your book again I would be curious if it has any anything about what happened to and/or who his sister Anna Brautigam married. Also what other brothers and sisters it might mention of John Wolfgang. As there is 10 years difference between your John Wolfgang and our Eva Elisa. She was already married to Caspar when she and her husband and one of her sons Andrew arrived in Texas from Germany in 1845---same year as Eva Elisa's parents Maria Elzabeth Pfeifer and Valentin Johann Braeutigam..

The only children I have for Valentin Johann Braeutigam and Maria Elizabeth Pfeifer was Child Anna, child Wolfgang (they were listed on index for Passengers and immigration). We have another daughter as Eva Elisa Brautigan that married Caspar Marschall. Ken got info for her in some material he found in the Boerne, texas library that had her parents as same.

I need to look at where he put that info too to see what else it has. Originally all he got info was on the direct ancestor in each generation. I have been fleshing them out to see what happened to them back then. Also because you can sometimes find other of their extended family staying with them.

If you need or want any info on Eva Brautigans line let me know. Sorry you had problem with email address, don't know why you did. But is a valid address, if tavalon@yahoo.com doen't work, try my husbands email address kpfeiffer@sbcglobal.net Thanks again for your reply.
I bought this lovely photo of two women. They are identified as Pauline and Ann BRAEUTIGAM. Pauline has a square necked lace blouse and a large bow in the back of her hair. Anna is wearing a high necked blouse with two pins-one at the neck and the other at her bosom. She is also wearing a long chain.

I am not related, but I would like to connect this photo with a family member or family researcher. Please contact me directly if you have an interest in this photo.

Kathy Wieland in St. Louis, MO
Kathy@craftsbykathy.com

Hello, I've just started to try to track down my father after a long interval. He was Jack A. Brautigan and lived in a Chicago suburb or northern Illinois. He married someone in Illinois after he and my mother divorced. I know he is buried somewhere in Illinois, but neither his son or mother would tell us (my brother's daughter and her mother). any info is greatly appreciated. I would also like to contact any of the Brautigans who live or did live in the Racine/Kenosha Wisconsin region. Thank you.

Brautigam of Washington state

I am looking for descendants of Philip or Joseph Brautigam who moved to the state of Washington in the 1890's. They operated a lumber mill in the Puget Sound area.

I also know of a George Brautigam born 7/2/1889, whose funeral was in Centralia, Washington 5/19/1964. He died 5/16/1964. I have him as the son of Peter Brautigam (census). Any help would be greatly appreciated. There are Brautigam descendants in MI and CT who would like to expand our knowledge of the family.

Although the time frame is correct for the possibility of a sibling link between your George and my 2nd great grandfather Jacob Brautigam, I am unaware of any link. Jacob came from Avon,OH to Allegan Co. MI according to my very sketchy information. Avon and Clarington are at opposite ends of the state.

Has anyone traced their Brautigam family back to Allegan County Michigan in the mid to late 1800s? The family was there in 1860, 1870, and 1880, but gone in 1900. Where did they go? Jacob and Magdalen Brautigam were the parents. I also found spelling of Briedegam in Allegan County records. They had children Mary Elizabeth, Jacob, Frank, Joseph, Peter, Philip, Gertrude, and Anthony (Anton). All were born between 1852 and 1870. Some in Ohio, the rest in Michigan. I found an article about Philip and Joseph who were in the Puget Sound area around 1900, but can find no other information on them.

Do you know whether this name has been changed over the years? I have found known ancestors of mine with it spelled Bridegan, Bridegam, Brautigam, Brautigan, Breitigam/n, etc. Understand there was a family falling-out that led to the change in the spelling of the family name but no one seems to know what it is all about. Any ideas?

I just bought a book with Daniel's name as the "printer." Actually the title page indicates that it was printed for him by Conrad Zentler. Anyway, the date on the book is 1816. It is a combination of Luther's Small Catechism and other material that looks largely of a Reformed and pietistic bent. I'm curious about Daniel. Who knows something more about him?

From waht I've read here he printed well part 1800. Did he publish other books? Anybody know where I couldget a list?

Thanks,

Mike

William's older brother Charles (Karl C.) was my g-g-g grandfather. They had a younger full sister Johanna Leonora, and a younger half sister Caroline Kohl. I think William and Mary had a total of 7 kids. In addition to Ida Marie, Dena, Carrie and William, I have Christian Gustav, Louis C. and Henry L. In spite of many hours of searching, I have been unable to turn up anything on William's father. I only know he must have died either shortly before or after they emigrated from Germany, as I know his mother remarried Carl Kohl in 1844 in Gasconade County. Do you know anything about where our Brautigams lived in Germany? That would be a start.
