Hi Sue,
Thank you for responding.
I usually live in California but am currently in Hythe Hants in the flat I have inherited from my Mum Doris Aylmore whose mother was Ada Jane Bream.
So far Breams and Martins have been the most difficult to trace. I'd appreciate anything you find although I'm not as actively pursuing family history as I was,
especially since right now I do not have access to my written records.
best wishes,
Maggie Macro nee Aylmore

Henry Bream, Sheffield, England. Killed in the Great War 1915

I have been researching men who worked for Vickers Steelworks, Sheffield, England, who fell in the Great War.
The result of this research and the Military details about Henry Bream can be found on http://www.stannington.webitsmart.co.uk

His final resting place suggests he was involved in the Salonika campaign where a limited British force was sent to help repel the aggresive Bulgarians.

can anybody tell me more. Who his family were. Was he married etc - how old was he ? These are all basic questions I need answered.

Thanks in advance.
Francis Bream is also my gggrandfather, via his son Jacob and my grandmother, Ida Louise Bream Hartzell (1875-1955). And yes, I am related to both sides of the earlier Bream-Hartzell marriage (my grandparents were third cousins). I am interested in developing a greater understanding of the genealogy of the various Breams of Adams County, Pennsylvania. If anyone can provide me with a "jump start" on the research, I would appreciate it. I live in Gettysburg, and have access to the Adams County Historical Society (of course, work, family and two dozen other projects permitting!).

I am researching the BREAN surname. But understand that there could have been mistakes in spelling, in fact many spellings back in England. I have a gr. grandfather, William Brean, born in Wrington, Somerset, England, in 1845. Then his father was Thomas Brean and his father was Richard Brean.(it showed misspelling of Brain--resource people in Somerset have told me that there were 2 problems: illiteracy - people did not know how to read or spell and therefore, could not tell if a cleric misspelled their names; secondly, broad accents/pronunciation.

But then, at some point people choose one way to spell or say their names and that one stuck.

Researcher at Somerset Record Ofc, Obridge Rd.,Taunton, England, TA2 7PU, did some work for me and DID come up with a Bream. Elizabeth Bream, 65, born in Jamaica and living in Taunton St. James (1851 Census Somerset) Good luck....

I received a copy of the Bream family history from my former father-in-law Howard Bream. It stated that Heinrich Brem was married to Kathryn Herschel and that they sailed to America with their son Jacob on the ship "Loyal Judith". They settled in the Ground Oak Church Station of Adams County. Henry Bream, the son of Jacob lived his entire life in this area and is buried in the Ground Oak Cemetery.

My gggndfthr was Francis Bream(1804-1882)married at St Jmes Lutheran in Gettysburg in 1842. Francis was a sheriff of Adams Co and proprietor of Black Horse Tavern west of G-burg. As I understand from family lore that Francis was born in Tyrone Twp near York Springs. Again according to hand me down info, Franis father was a Jacob or Henry(1781-1865). There is confusion here. Siblings were Henry, Jacob, Samuel, Breshen, and Catherine.
The father of the above generation was a Henry(1750?-1828) who lived in Tyrone twp. Henry's father was Jacob Brehm, Primm or Breem(1722-1794). His father was Heinrich(1700-????) Respone appreciated.

No I don't have a Caroline Bream. The Bream chidlren were either born in what is not the Czech Republic or in PA or Iowa. The Children were small when in PA. Now Peter Bream or Prem might have had a brother that came with him but we have not found that so far. We can't trace any of our family to the many Breams in PA.
Carol
