Bonjour Mary-Marguerite,
The marriage date for your father comes from a marginal inscription alongside his baptismal act in Neguac, NB. Maybe there is an error in the note as 1951 would make him 40 years old at marriage. Could have been 1931 instead.

Anyway, I would like to get in touch with you via email to complete the informations on your branch of the family.

I have an original studio photograph of “Luella Breau McKenzie”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Photo was taken in about 1905, in Sycamore (DeKalb Co.) IL, and she looks to be in her early 20s.

I found Luella single in the 1900 census for South Grove (DeKalb Co.) IL, living with her father, a grain dealer, with name either W.E. or N.E. Breau, born Canada. She was Luella M. Breau, DOB March 1883, oldest child, with brother Walter and sisters Ivy and Clara. In 1910 DeKalb Co. census, she was wife of James McKenzie, who she married in 1903.

Get back to me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to Luella Breau McKenzie.

The 1881 Canada census (available at the LDS church website www.familysearch.org) has a record for:
Edward Cormier living in St. Marys, Kent co., NB.
The reference is: FHL film #1375821; NA film # C-13185; District 34, sub-district G; household 222.
The family:
Edward CORMIER, age 28
Apoline CORMIER, age 29
Elizabeth CORMIER, age 6
Milien CORMIER, age 4
Marie CORMIER, age 1
This is the only Edward/Edouard CORMIER family in New Brunswick for 1881 that is close to the name Apauline. But the children do not match your list.

The New Brunswick Provincial Archives shows:
1.) Born: Augustin CORMIER, on 18 Feb 1891 of Edward CORMIER and Apolline BREAU at Richardville, Kent co., NB. Microfilm F14035.
2.) Born: Marguerite Jeanne CORMIER, on 16 July 1888 of Edward CORMIER and Apolline BRAULT at Adamsville, Kent co., NB. Microfilm F14035.
3.) Born: Mary M. Adeline CORMIER, on 25 Aug 1896 of Edward H. CORMIER and Apolline BREAULT at Richardville, Kent co., NB. Microfilm F14035.

In the book "A Breau Genealogy", edition 2004 by Robert Brault, page 223 we find the entry:
#12672525: Timothée BREAU married Olive CORMIER. First child: Appoline, baptized 29 Nov 1851 at Cocagne NB; married 18 Sept 1873 at Cocagne NB to Edouard CORMIER. This might be your family; the name Appoline is very rare so chances are good. Appoline had ten siblings in her family. You can get the Breau book directly from the author at:
robert.brault@ens.csaffluents.qc.ca
Good luck, Jim

Appoline (Apauline) BREAU b.abt.1845-65 - m. - Edouard CORMIER ~ from New Brunswick

I have a challenging question:

My great-great-grandmother, Apauline Breau is a mystery to me. She married Edouard Cormier and had many children (Angus, Madeleine, Marie, Telesphore, etc.). They were originally from New Brunswick, Canada and lived in Fitchburg, MA... and may have moved to Acushnet or New Bedford, MA at some point. I am curious about Apauline's ancestry. She was born some time between 1845 and 1865 (most likely).

I realize this is not much to go on, but I thought I would take a chance.

Any help will be appreciated.

Ben (benjo1972@juno.com)

Hi Robert,
My grandfather, Joseph Lapierre died in January of 1972, I remember it well as I was attenager going to visit him in the hospital when he passed away. He and my grandmother are buried in Sacred Hearts cemetary in New Bedford, Ma. Meme're passed away in Florida, as she lived in Fort Myers, Florida in her later years. They were married on 4/20/1914. Rumor has it and my grandfather confirmed that he was Indian. But that still remains a mystery. I just sent for his SS information to hopefully obtain more info. As a child I lived upstairs from my grandparents, they were like a second set of parents. My mother, Amanda's daughter recently passed away in Sept from cancer. She and my father Abel Gonsalves live with me qand my husband in NH. Any info you can send would be appreciated. I am in the process of making scrapebooks for my children's history. Thank you and have a nice holiday......Susan

Evangeline is still looking for Gabriel

Hi,
A story quite similar to Evangeline and Gabriel! My mother, Dorina King,
now widowed and aged 90, is desperately searching for her lost love one,
Abraham Breau. They met in 1924-25 in Pugwash, N.S. (Canada). Dorina was then
working in a lobster factory. Abraham followed her to a small fishing
community in Cap-Lumière (Kent Co., N.B.) where he worked for Dorina's
father, Clovis King, as a fisherman. Dorina's parents objected to the
relationship. They broke off and Dorina never saw her Abraham again! Now
aged 90, one of her most desired wish would be to know what has happened
to her Abraham. Did he get marry, had children, etc. Thanks in advance
for any lead, information, etc. Dorina's son
Léandre
P.S. You can reply directly to me at: lmaillet@bigfoot.com

Bonsoir Ben,

The book from wich the informations come from is: A Breau genealogy, descendants of the pioneer VINCENT BRAULT (1629-1686) in the male line through the seventh generation including the children of the eight generation (Braud, Brault, Breau, Breault, Breaux, Brow), published in 1999 and 2004 by Clarence Breaux (of Louisiana) and myself (of Quebec)

Au revoir,

PS: It is, modestly, the most comprehensive genealogical work on the descendants of Vincent Brault (written with a big smile)

I have the Breau Genealogy book and it is indeed, the best reference book available on this family line.
Hi Robert. I am still being blocked on my email getting directly through to you, so let's try this message board.
The new Breau website I mentioned is at:
http://www.genealowiki.com/bin/view.cgi/Breau/WebHome
Follow the links or go through the Name Index. The Breau name list is sparse so far, just our family line. But this site is designed for collaboration from any Breau researcher that wants to add family history. If you see any errors, you can register and edit easily.
Jim
