I have a friend who is a descendant of the original Bredow who was Joachim. If you read the previous info from myself and the other postershere you will see more information . My friend got alot of information from a man who did alot of research into the evangelical Lutherans who came over from Prussia for religious freedom. I ddi not know your mother-in-law and that is much more impresswive that she did her research by mail. My deepest sympathies!
