I am researching my husbands family, as far as I can get back is Daniel Bredow b: abt 1780, married to Augusta ?.

My husband is a Bradow, Daniel Bredow is his 3rd gr grandfather. His lineage goes Daniel Bredow, Joachim Bredow Daniel Fredrich Brado, Daniel Frank Bradow, Bruce Daniel Bradow, then my husband.

A last name for Augusta would be wonderful.

Any info would be greatly appreciated, and I will be more than happy to help you with any info I may provide.

I will have to dig out the book. I know this for sure without looking. My husbands father was Harold Henry Brado, His father was Henry (mother Mabel Fanny) and Henry's father and mother are
( I believe they are next in line)

Joachim---William H.(The first)--William H. (the second)--Jack (the first)---then my friend Jack (the second). We traveled in 2003 to the evangelical Lutheran church graveyard where Joachim is buried. It is located in Macomb County in Michigan.(outside of Mt. clemens MI

We could not locate his exact grave site because the records were lost in a fire. But my friend was glad to find it.If you ever would like photos of it please let me know and I can send you some via my friend. The Mt Clemens library has a paper file on Joachim fyi. I am sure they would share it with you. They also have a microfiche of Joachim's will which is signed with a squiggly "X". Let me know if you need anything else. All the best CARA

Thanks for your reply. I wish she were alive to ask, she may have had some question. But, the written record she did seems very complete. My husband said there were suitcases full of notes and copies of records that she used to put it together. I just stumbled across this and thought it was interesting. I have a friend who is a descendant of the original Bredow who was Joachim. If you read the previous info from myself and the other postershere you will see more information . My friend got alot of information from a man who did alot of research into the evangelical Lutherans who came over from Prussia for religious freedom. I ddi not know your mother-in-law and that is much more impresswive that she did her research by mail. My deepest sympathies! My friend who is the Michigan Bradow (name was changed)has a TON of info on the Bredow/Bradow family if you would like it. You can send your inqueries to me and I forward them to him. did you know Beverley Brado by any chance? She was my Mother-in-law and died last February. She did this research and found the names you are mentioning here. She did the search over many years and mostly through the mail. She did not have internet. It is very complete.

I am not saying that your family is unrelated to the other Bradows that post here. Many of the Bradows that post here are descended through Joachim von Bredow who left the Pomerania area of Prussia (now Germany) just northeast of Berlin in the early 1840's. They settled in western New York state near Niagara and then moved west to parts of Michigan and Wisconsin from there. I have not heard of a French border connection but it is possible that a family connection exists. There would be a bit of digging to be done in Germany/France since the families took different routes into America or so it would seem.

My father is Edward George Bradow his brother is Earenst Charles. There farther i think is Charles The family came from the German/French border Al Sansue Lorraine the spelling was Bradaux converted to american became Bradow
surviving Bradows include brother,2 cousis,4nephews,1 grand nephew .my grandfather had 8 sons all discased only other son i know by name was Harold Lived in Cal. worked in hollywood as an extra and in wardrobe He was my fathers half brother.My grandmothers name was Catherine and the second wife. hope this is helpful

William F. Brado enlisted in the Civil War in 1861. again in 1863 and then again in 1865. He was born in Prussia about 1826 and died 4/19/1919 in Niagra Co, New York, where he lived his whole life in America. He fought 27 battles during the Civil War. He was in Co F, 3rd New York Calvary. I am sorry that I have not responded earlier. If you can find out your grandather's name then you can link up with my friend's line of the Bradow/Bredow male line. This is what I have from my friend who is a Bradow. Also, the last name's spelling was changed because my friend's great grandmother ( I think it was her) kept getting mail for other Bredow families. So the family was originally BREDOW.
Here is my friend's line starting with the present day
JACK Bradow II----->JACK Bradow 1st---->William Howard II (he is buried in Flint MI)---->William Howard 1st---->JOHANN (John) Born 1831 DIED Jan 5th, 1895 Buried in St John's Hagenville Lutheran Cemetary in Rogers City MI. ------> JOACHIM Bredow came from PRUSSIA.I found out that Rogers City has a library of info on the Bredows. It is possible that your Bredow branch is descended from Johann/John. He had eleven children!!

My father was Leonard George Bredow from the Roger City, Mich area. I don't know his father's name but he had some brothers and sisters. One brother was Fred and a sister was Florence. I would like any info that I could get into my family.

This Bredow family is related to the Bredow families that came from Berkholz Prussia to Berkholtz New York and the Bredows that left Berkholtz New York to come to Macomb County Michigan and spread thru out Michigan. The information I was given about the Bredows has them going back to about 1780 in Prussia, for a guy named Daniel Bredow. I don't know how accurate that is, but I would love to get any additional info on the Bredows.

Yes, Walter Poch was married to Annie Bredow, the daughter of John Bredow. They lived in Rogers City, Mich. Annie was my Grandmother, Ethel's sister. I knew Annie well. Spent lots of time with her and her sisters, Mary, Molly, & Annie. My great grandmother, maiden name Florip died when I was 5. I remember her well, she had white long curly hair, in a bun, she sat in a rocking chair and made me a knit ball (I still have it). She lived with her daughter, Annie Bredow Poch. John Bredow's father came to Mich. from N.Y., previous Prussia.

My grandmother was Ethel Bredow Heward. She had 2 sisters and 3 brothers. John Jr. lived in Hagensville and then moved to Crawford's quarry with his wife and kids. I'm justing starting the research on my great grandmother's side of the family. Her name is Hannah Louise Bredow (1900-1988). She married Walter Herman Poch in 1921. I have Hannah's parents as John Bredow and "Lena" Florip. All tie in to Michigan in one way or another.

So Annie is your grandmother? Annie was my mom's grandmother. Maybe you know her. Her name is Diane Poch. She's Diane Bowlin now. I think I remember her telling me that she remembers (I told her all about finding this research on the Pochs and Bredows) spending time with a Gail and Bonnie and was wondering if you are the Bonnie she was referring to.

Do you have any old pictures of Lena or John Bredow? I have a couple of pictures given to me by a descendent of Percy & Ethel. I have a picture of Lena Florip Bredow. Not the best, but it's fairly clear.

Hermine Bredow was married to Carl Geschke. They were both born in Germany. Hermine was born about 1854 and Carl about 1843. They settled in Wayne County, Detroit, Michigan. I only know the name of one daughter which is Ida Geschke who was born August 1, 1849 and died March 2, 1972. Are your Bredows connected to this family? Also is there any connection to the Walter or Huber families of Detroit, Michigan?

Hi....I have posted here before...My friend Jack has also and he is a BRADOW (name of family was originally Bredow but his gg-grandmother changed it but some branches do spell it BREDOW) Jack has alot of info on the original Bredow who came from Prussia (now Germany) who was named Joachim and had about 11 children . Those children's descendants are mostly in Presque Isle Michigan and over Michigan and then a branch went to Wisconsin and then Minnesota and the 50 states! We think they made it to Australia! We have located JOACHIM's graveyard in Macomb County Michigan and the grave is unfortunately unmarked.Jack has photos of the graveyard and copies of Joachim's probate papers from 1895 and much more info for anyone who would like info. Joachim's branch does include the New York branch since he and his family came first from Bergholtz Prussia and then settled for awhile in Bergholtz New York. I have been researching my friend's MICHIGAN Bredow/Bradow line for about a month and I have info for you I believe. If you come from the Daniel Friedrich line who was born in Bergholz New York on Feb 1, 1844, his original name was BREDOW like his father, Joachim. Daniel was a Civil War veteran and his company (not sure if it was Army etc) changed his last name for him to BRADO. I also have a email friend in Indiana by the name of Don Knopf who has alot of info on the Bergholz NY Bredows.His family is Prussian Lutheran like the original BREDOW's and they from the Bergholz NY area also.Please email me if you would like more info! William Bradow, son of William Bredow and Phebe Webb was born on Grand Island, NY, because Phebe was originally from there. She was already living in Presque Isle County, MI, but wanted to have her first child near her family In NY. She then returned to MI and had several more children. William her son, was my grandfather. While William Brado of NY state is probably related, he is not Phebe and William's son.
