Let me muddy the waters. I’ve done some minor research on the Breedlove name and found two different ideas of its origin. One is that it came from an Indian tribe. The second, is that it came from England. About the only thing I can help with is that my mother, Beth Womble, prior to her death told me that my grandfather was full blooded Cherokee Indian and came from the Cherokee tribe located in Oklahoma area. Some of the records indicated that at one time their was a county in Oklahoma called "Breedlove County", but it no longer carries the Breedlove name. The original Cherokee tribe, to the best of my knowledge, originated in the North Carolina . The original tribe was force marched from North Carolina to Oklahoma. That march was called the "Trail of Tears". There is a Cherokee tribe web-site that you can visit. If you check the Breedlove name in both North Carolina and Oklahoma area you will be inundated with the Breedlove name. I’m also trying to get to the bottom of this. Have a great day and if you locate any other information and sounds reasonable please let me know.
