Hi Aoife,
When I said it gave me the names what I meant was that i just put in every initial starting with A and going all the way through till, you've guessed it N, got a hit, then I typed in Nathaniel and low and behold...
Of course, William's first son was Nathaniel so it wasn't that hard to figure out. Likewise with Bridgets father, as Cornelius was the 2nd son....
While trawling the Ellis island records yesterday I found Cornelius' entry to the USA but then, I suppose you knew that already. In the record it says that he went to his sister Mary in Waterbury CON and that when Mary Ellen went out to US earlier she had gone to her uncle Denis (was that Denis Todd or Denis Ryan?)I'm thinking Todd as in all other cases the clerk entering names of relatives puts in a surname if it differs from the name of the emigrant.
Also noted little Margaret Todd going off the US so young, what a shock that must have been to an 11 year old.
Regards, Mary
