MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Kathryn N. Brei, 89, of Muscatine, passed away on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Trinity Hospital, Muscatine.
Graveside services will be held at Greenwood Cemetery at a later date. Kathryn’s wish for cremation was facilitated by the Family Care Services Life Transition and Cremation Center in Muscatine. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society in Kathryn’s name.
Kathryn Neoma Brei was born on August 2, 1920, in Jefferson City, Missouri, the daughter of Ellis N. Phillips, Sr. and Georgia A. Hurst Phillips. On September 8, 1946, Kathryn was united in marriage to Ronald A. Brei in Muscatine.
She was employed as a dental assistant for 16 years. She was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary and the Lady Elks. Kathryn enjoyed playing golf and cards, traveling with her husband and wintering in Arizona.
Kathryn will be deeply missed by her husband, Ronald Brei of Muscatine; one daughter, Pauline D. Janney of Bettendorf; three grandchildren, Rhonda Bowling and her husband, Steve, of Bettendorf, Laura Williams and her husband, Kurt, of Davenport and Steven Janney and his wife, Lisa, of Davenport; eight great grandchildren, Tom, Jennifer, Stephanie, Jeremy, Randy, Jason, Josh and Brandon; and sixteen great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Julius Welsch; one daughter, Neoma; son-in-law, Richard Janney; three brothers, Ellis, Floyd and James Phillips; and one sister, Ruth Cox.
