Rose:
In 1984 my dad's cousin, Dr. Frederike Kastenbauer visited us in Phillips, Wisconsin. Her mother and my dad's father were siblings and Frederike's mother stayed behind. During their conversation I heard my dad say that his mother (Anastasia or Anastazia,) my grandfather Anton and my father (Karel, or Charles) and his brother William went back to Bohemia (Czech Republic now) to visit family in 1914. They went to Odessa, Russia, to visit what my dad remembered to be an uncle to him. That was something that Frederike responded to because she remembered that her mother also went to Odessa to visit relatives. (But she did not know who.) It could be that a brother to my great-grandfather (Karel Brendel) who lived in Bohemia and was a carpenter by trade and owned his own carpenter shop and lived in the same long building (I have one photo of him there) had a brother living in Odessa, Russia. Do you know if your great-great grandfather had a brother Karel?
