Hi there! Just wanted to greet a relative. I'm descended from Lawrence Brengle and Lucetta Thomas. There were many in-between, but my family's branch eventually ended up in northwest South Dakota. My g-g-grandpa William Otis Brengle homesteaded in the early 1900's and was a very talented saddlemaker (if a bit of a troublemaker as well!). Our family has remained there for five generations. Grandpa William and his son, Maurice, have both left autobiographies behind for their family. Maurice died a few years ago. If you would like to know anything, please let me know. I haven't got a ton of internet access, but I'll try to reply in a timely fashion!

Sharon,

I don't have any helpful info for you, but I appreciate the clue you have given me about Arthur Brengle (my great uncle). I have been trying to find out who he married and if he had children. John F. Brengle was my great grandfather who apparently, abandoned my great grandmother, Jennie Fitzpatrick Brengle, and her two sons, Clyde and Joe, in 1898 to go off to Kansas with another women. My father met his Uncle Art a couple times but there was little info about John F. Brengle or his whereabouts. All photos were destroyed by my grandfather, Clyde, and he would not discuss his father. So your email is enlightening. I have discovered that Arthur was buried in Missouri. Did he have other children besides John? Do you know if John was named after his grandfather and do you know who his grandmother was. Sorry to sense the family tradition was carried on with you as with my greatgrandmother. Anything you might share I really appreciate. It has been a big family secret for 100 years. Please email me : bjorge@charter.net
Thanks.

Richard was married to a Mary A. Unknown who had at least 7 children: Margaret L. born about 1859, Flora Jane born in 1861, Thomas N. or M. born in 1863, Charles S. born in 1865, John F. born in 1868, Clara E. born in 1870, and Elsa R. born in 1875. Richard moved from Kentucky to Illinois to Indiana, ending up in the Guthrie, Oklahoma area, where he died 11 May 1892. Mary is buried beside him in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Stillwater, OK. I don't know Mary's maiden name, but her parents were both born in Virginia.

Also, I keep seeing the name Logan and wondered when that appeared in the line. Anyone know? Love to share info.

Brett

Sarah Brnegle of Washington County MD

Sarah A. Brengle married John Farrow in Washington County MD. I know that John was born and bred in Williamsport.
I also know that the name of Lawrence does not show in my line until Sarah's first son. This is unusaual in my line dating back to 1802. This makes me wonder if the name came from her line.

I have the 1860 cenus info of John Brengle 49 (cooper) and Sarah 53 Children at home include Ann E. 24 Tailoress, Caroline 22 Tailoress Alice 12 Tailoress and I did not get the rest copied. Given that they lived in Williamsport and John was a cooper (barrell maker) and my John Farrow's father owned the barrell manufacturing business I highly suspect this is the family of Sarah.

Sorry, but I don't show a Sarah. My line actually ends
in 1802 when Catherine Brengle married a Michael Reel or
Riehl. Catherine parents were Lawrence (1742-1799) and
Eva (1753-1834) I don't have any record of a Sarah. There were a few Brengle's in the Frederick County area. You might
have more luck if you could narrow the town or county search.
Good Luck!

You are correct. John Nicholas who was born on Oct 4, 1776, baptized Oct 1776 at the Frederick Reformed Church in Frederick, died I have on Dec 9, 1842. His sister Catharina was my ancestor. I also have other sibling info if interested. John Nicholas was the son of Lawrence and Eva Margaret (Gomber). I have a copy of Lawrence's will. Lawrence was the son of Johann Christian (1718-1761) and Anna Barbara. I have information on this family if you wish to go back further. Please contact me at peggy0155@mediaone.net. I am interested in what information you might have on this old MD family. Peggy

In a family history document compiled by an uncle I have a John Nicholas Brengle who died in 1848 -- no birthdate. In this document, John is listed as the son of Lawrence who perhaps died in 1799/ Lawrence was supposedly the son of Jacob who was married to Gertrude Bell -- according to family history.com they only had one son -- George D. John NIckolas was the great great grandfather to my grandfather, George Elmer, who was born in 1873 and died in 1953. Do you have any documentation to show the ancestry of John Nicholas?

In a family history document compiled by an uncle I have a John Nicholas Brengle who died in 1848 -- no birthdate. In this document, John is listed as the son of Lawrence who perhaps died in 1799/ Lawrence was supposedly the son of Jacob who was married to Gertrude Bell -- according to family history.com they only had one son -- George D. John NIckolas was thegreat grandfather to my grandfather, George Elmer, who was born in 1873 and died in 1953. Do you have any documentation to show the ancestry of John Nicholas?

John F. Brengle

Divorce documents filed in Logan County, Oklahoma, indicate that he most likely entered the state during the 1889 opening of the Kansas-Oklahoma territories. His oldest son and my father, Clyde Monroe Brengle, refused to disclose any information he had about his paternal ancestry. I have been unable to find any links in any of the Brengle lines explored so far. Information know to me follows.

Spouse: Jennie Fitzpatrick Born Sept. 1, 1874; died Sept. 7, 1959

Sons: Clyde Monroe, Born Oct. 8, 1893, died Sept. 2, 1957; Joseph, Born ?, died May ?, 1927. From a second marriage (spouse unknown) Arthur, born in Kansas in 1904, and believed to have died in Missouri. I would greatly appreciate any information which might be helpful in developing this branch of my family tree.
