Surnames: BRENIZER WELLS
Using the spelling of BRENIZER only, I would love to hear from anyone who has Civil War information in your Surname Data base on the Brenizers from OH, IL, PA, and IA. I'm most notably researching the 7 Brenizers who served for the State of Ohio. The 7 are:

Amos b 1843 (son of Samuel & Elizabeth Ihrig)
Cicero H b 1842 (son of 1770 Adam & wife Eve)
David T b 1821 (really want to find this gentleman!!)
George b 1844
Isaac b 1835
John b 1836
Simon b 1840 (son of Samuel & Elizabeth Ihrig)

Amos did not survive the war and was a POW. David T did not survive the war and was a POW. John did not survive the war and was a POW.

I have been unable to find any information on David T. It may be possible that his middle initial is not "T" but sound likes---maybe a "C" or "B", etc. He was age 43 when he enlisted in Ohio (Wayne County area) in Feb of 1864. He was a POW in Sept and died in April 1865.

Using the spelling BRENIZER:

From the state of Iowa: only 1
Reason H believed to be Reason Hess, son of Levi Brenizer and Rebecca Hess, grandson of David Brenizer and Anne Bauman. (For 3 months--age 17)

From the state of IL: only 2
Charles G Brenizer of Tamaroa IL
Josiah K brenizer of Rock Grove IL

From the state of PA: only 12
Franklin POW St. Mary's Church, VA
George
Henry

John
John
Joseph A
Lafayette b 08/04/1835 d 03/25/1910 in Johnson City, TN
wife s Elizabeth Plank
Samuel
Samuel
Washington M
Washington N

Both Washingtons are different men. One of the Henry's was from Morrow County Ohio and may have been the brother to Cicero H of Ohio since Henry had a son named Dudley Cicero (and a son named Ulyses Grant).

I conclude that 3 are the great grandson and 1 is the great-great grandson of John Brenizer who died in 1805 and his wife Christina Mauer.

It is possible that Civil War data bases do not list all the Brenizers from each of these States but the information is taken from State records. I find no Brenizers for any other state. This spelling yields only 22 Brenizers enlisted, all with the Union Army.

I would really like to find David "T" who is most likely from Wayne or Morrow County although I have WELLS who served in the same Ohio regiments and they lived in Iowa and Indiana. I'm descended from the widow of Theophilus Brenizer who died at age 25 in 1852 (son of David A Brenizer--Jr of Smithville Ohio) and brother to Levi David and uncle to Reason Hess of Iowa. Theophilus is buried in Smithville, Wayne County Ohio along with his father and grandfather.

Theophilus' wife was Sarah Leib of Ohio and PA and I descend through her second husband Miles Wells who died with Amos Brenizer and David T Brenizer.

Can we make any connections to fill in the blanks?
