Classification: Query
Surnames: Brennan, Hughes, Murphy
I've been researching my Brennan's for 9 yrs and all to no avail but have recently discovered that I've been looking in totally the wrong area of Ireland.
I now have confirmed details that my Brennan's originate from Clonegal Co Carlow and Co Wexford, consequently I would be thrilled if anyone else can connect to my Brennan's.
Although I don't have the dates I presume that in the late 1880's Brennan X was evicted from the Fitzwilliam Estate in Clonegal Co Carlow and he then moved to Kildara or Kildalloo Co Wexford where he had 8 acres.
His wife is thought to have been named Helen Hughes.
Only the name of 2 children from Brennan X is known Mick (Michael) and Thomas Brennan(A).Nothing is known of Mick.
Thomas(A)was a Steward at the nearby Clobemon Hall Estate.
Thomas(A)married twice from the first marriage it's known that he had at least 2 sons, one known to have been Thomas Brennan(B) (sisters not known) but possibly 2 sisters who may have become actress and lived in Dublin.
His 2nd marriage when he was aged 40 was to Jane Murphy, children from this marriage were Helen, Anastascia, Mary Jane, Edward (Ned) Michael, Patrick and John born Nov 1902.
Thomas died in 1909 and is buried in Clonegal Co Carlow.
Thomas (B) from Thomas(A) first marriage had a travelling roadshow and is known to have performed in Ballycarney and Strahart. He married Co Cavan in 1907 and with his wife a concert singer they travelled Ireland with their road show. They had 4 children but seperated during the 1920's.
Nothing is known regarding Thomas (B) brother, it was thought that he may have been in the priesthood but we have no details.
I do hope someone can connect to my Brennan's or at least give me some direction. I'm particulary interested in Thomas Brennan (B) as he would have been my gt grandfather.
Regards Jackie
