Surnames: Bratcher, Bradshaw, Breshears
Ralph: Thank you for your interest ! Yes I have the charts for the family that bring them to Campbell TN. My problem is trying to ID the clan in White County TN beginning about 1814 who move on into Bedford then to Lincoln Co., TN.
This branch went by Brasher, Breshear. My GG Grfather John Breshears b 1793/5 served from Sparta,White Co., in the War of 1812 (Military papers). I have recently found the
following record in White County abst: 976.866 R2s.(SLC- GS)
Pg 710/711 - 29 Sep 1827 1827: Charles, William, John BRADSHAW, , Issac Plumbly, Margaret Plumbly, Joel BRADSHAW (Who?), Nancy Houston & Walter Houston to Thomas Lyons.
This is the clan seen as Brechen or Brecheen (Bresher?) of Bedford Co. TN ; William Sr, William, Elizabeth, Josiah. I have a deposition for William BRADSHAW and his #2 wife Elizabeth (Harper) BRADSHAW that is extensive (William Sr. above) . It names William Beach who married Elizabeth's
daughter. William Beach is grandson of William BRADSHAW. Let me know if you need it?
1830: Our proven clan is first found in White/Warren Co., Lincoln Co., TN. then Lawrenceburg, Lawrence Co., TN. With them is a widow (pauper) over 100 years in 1830 named Elizabeth. She is found in our ancestor, Henry Breshears and his brother John's (Littleberry) h/h. We have never been able to identify this Elizabeth conclusively.
My interest in Charles BRADSHAW: One Charles BREASHEAR had his land warrant for abt 640 (may have been 1200?) acres in middle TN. He transfered it to others, one wtn. being Obediah. The Obediah heir suggests to me Charles is a BRADSHAW transmuted to Breashears.
I've been playing with this for many years. I've got extensive records on the Burke Co., NC Bradshaws who appear as Brasher on many of the NC records.
The BRADSHAW theory is but one of about 4 theories as to who we descend from.
Thanks again and cheers ...Georgene
