Yes I kind of thought this might be true. My daughter said she thought we were but from what I understand the records in the town that Elvis family came from in Germany were destroyed but whatever my daughter read said all the families from that town were related but it couldn't be proven as a fact. Do you have any information from any records that links all of us together? Thank you for responding to my query. Darlene Nelson

I just started this on Ancestry and HANS VALENTIN Pressler had a son Johannes Nicholas (Pressler) Bressler born Aug 2 1717. What I have shows Johannes died in the Wyoming Valley massacre in 1778. Johannes also had a daughter killed in the massacre as well. My confusion is who is Johannes mother? Eva Maria Ohli is shown as his mother but Hans Valentin had a second marriage to Eva Kendig and all the geneology stuff I have is confused on the dates. On Ancestry it shows Eva Kendig with children listed as being born before she was so this is no help. If you find out anything on your research, please reply to me. Thank you.

Bresslers in Lancaster County, PA in 1800s

My g-great-grandmother was Mary Bressler married to Henry Diffenbaugh; they had 12 children. I know that their son, my direct ancestor Abraham, was raised a Mennonite as apparently many of his cousins were in or near East Lampeter. Henry's grandparents (Adam Diffenbaugh and Fronica Bare) were married in the Trinity Lutheran Church in New Holland amd several of their babies were baptized there. It has been suggested that the Diffenbaughs became Mennonite through marriage, and I'm wondering if anyone has knowledge of the Bressler family and might know if they were Mennonite at least in the 1800s.

I'm looking for a female Bressler, who married a Donmeyer(Dunmire????tons of different spellings from back then. They would have lived in Pennsylvania, but he was definitely of German/Swiss heritage. Don't have a first name for her. These two would be my GGG-Grandparents....I believe his first name is John or Johannes and would have come over in the mid to late 1700's from Switzerland...possibly Alsance Lorraine. If you have anything that sounds even remotely similar I would love to share information on what I do know.
Thanks so much, Debra

Are any of your other families connected to the St. Paul (Summerhill) Church? I was born/reared on the fifth generation farm, 5 miles from this church and have four generations of some families buried there. Nancy

O., and was one of the earliest members of Tilicum club. She served as noble grand of the local Rebekah lodge, was a faithful worker in the Congregational church, of which she became a member during the pastorate of Reverend Cushing Eells, pioneer clergyman.
Yes, Andreas (also known as Andrew) Smeltzer is Elizabeth Bressler's husband. I have been able to find very little about Mr. Smeltzer other than his residence in Bethel and Bern, Berks County, in the 1810, 1820, and 1830 censuses.

Eve Bunting published her article on her Bressler research in one of the Pennsylvania history periodicals. You might want to track that down.

His daughter Elizabeth was baptized in the Salem Bethel Church in Bethel, Berks County, Pennsylvania, in January 1820.

I am a descendant of Elizabeth Smeltzer Bechtold and her husband William.

Looking for information on an Elizabeth Bressler who I think married Andrew Schmeltzer - they had a daughter Elizabeth who married William Bechtold. The daughter Elizabeth who married Bechtold was born January 15, 1820. Pennsylvania - probably Berks County is where all of the above were from I think or that general area. Bechtolds then moved to Illinois.

Moses Bressler is the son of Michael Bressler and Anna Maria Spangler Bressler - lived Clinton Co., Pa. He was the son of Nicolaus Bressler and Catherina Boyer and then back one more generation to the immigrant Georg Simon Bressler. I think you have all that - if not let me know.
Moses went West and is found in the 1880 census. His family told me that a Moses "went West" but was never heard from after that. I assume they are the same. I also reviewed your posted family tree. Have interesting news to report. George Simon Bressler was NOT the son of Valentine. There is nothing to establish any connection as far as records go. However, Valentine has been proved to be on the same genetic link as George Simon. He came to the Colonies in 1709 - was in New York State, then Penna and into the South. Today known as the Pressley group and incidently a link to our friend and kinsman, Elvis. Is well documented and available on ancestry.com.

Hi Sheryl - Moses is the son of John Michael Bressler ( 1799-1881) and Anna Maria Spangler (1799-1886). the gson of Johannes Nicholaus Bressler, and ggson of George Simon. I looked in old records and found this. The family told me that Moses went West about 1875 - and it looks to me as ifI found the 1880 census revord for Oregan - Moses b. abt 1825, married a Sara E. and had Wm Alexander, Many Jane, Sarah Eliz., Hugh A. John B. I can go back on the record, but I think if you connect to Joh. Michael you'll have his antecedants. I'm still intrigued about all findings, though at 86 not active in research. Loved hearing from you. Betty

Are you able to help me with this line. Moses and his children were all born in PA and the 1860 and 1870 census lists them in Lamar two, Clinton county, PA. By 1880 they are in Lincoln, Marion county, OR.

Please find in any historical/genealogical library the following publication: Mennonite Family History, Volume XI, Number I, January 1992. pp. 33-39. THE BRESSLERS/PRESSLERS OF NIEDERHOCHSTADT by Elizabeth B. Bunting. You will find your family chronicled. However Valentin Pressler is not in your direct line, altough he was also from Niederhochstadt. Hank Jones who did all the work on the 1709 immigration to the Colonies (and of the family of V. Pressler) never was able to establish the line. The two lines also do not prove out in the genetic codes.

I have just discovered this listing, and am interested in finding information about the ancestors/relatives of Wilbur Huston Bressler, who was my grandfather. I have traced back through Charles Huston Bressler, George Bressler, Johann Georg Bressler, Johannes Nicholas Bressler, and Valentine Bressler (b. 1669, Niederhochstadt, der Pfalz, Germany), and would love to hear from any living relatives. I grew up in York, Pennsylvania, where my father and his father also grew up. I also wondered whether Bressler Aly in Mill Hall, PA was named for George Bressler.

Hi Judy, I just recently saw your post and realize that it is about 4 years old, I would love to have the information that you have with over 700 names. Maybe that would help me try to find out my ancestors. The fartherest back that I can go is my gggrand father, Michael Bressler born in 1802 in Berks Co., maybe father is Daniel, mother is a Maria. Both Daniel and Maria died in Crawford Co.,Ohio. Sons were John, Michael, George and Eli., all suposedly died in Ohio, with the exception of Michael who died in Texas. Michael first wife was Susanna Schwartz, 2nd wife Elizabeth McFadden and 3rd wife Mary Elizabeth Eichelberger. Can you help?
Elizabeth,

Thank you so much for responding to my query. I always thought that maybe I was related to the Bressler family, but from what I learned over the last few years, I find no connection yet. Here is my reason for thinking. I have an old deed from Mill Hall (that is where my family was, and still is from). The deed is dated 1799. It is written on Sheep skin, in quill pen, and has wax seals afixed to it. I spent a good deal of money to have it professionaly framed. Any way, the names on it include George Bressler, and Fronica his wife. My 3rd Great Grandfather; John Welch bought the land in 1830 if I remember right - I have the info written in my notes, but not handy at the moment. He also bought the land that boarders behind the plot from the Reed family (origonally William Reed who you read about in the history books of Clinton County). I have other deeds, and surveys, and resurveys of that land all through the 1800's including when they built the canal acrossed the property. These have been passed down through the family, and when my grandparents passed on, I recued them from going to the landfill. So I take it that you are a decendant of George Bressler? how far away do you live now? I hope to hear back from you. Thank you again!
