Hi, My Grandfather Lorentz Brevig born Sept 1869; married Madland; his father was Lauritz Brevik , July 22, 1839 married Willer (Viller) and his father was Lorentz Brevik born 1798, married Duklaethlien. The spelling of Brevik was changed during immigration in 1988 to Minesota USA and became Brevig.
The family was from Trondheim and Mosvik Norway.
Would like to know if there is any connection and if you could get bak to me. Thank you Regards Kathy

that's weird! sounds like the same story i got about my grand parents. accept they change there name on the way over. who also bought land in elbow lake. i believe it was recorded as one of the first houses in town. still standing. i don't know any of the other brevig's you are referring to but i am defiantly going to ask around. i will post anything i can find out.

Ithink Ican help you out. My uncle was Edwin and his first wife's name was Rachel. They had a son name of James, whick be my first cousin. Then Edwin remarried and they had two sons i think. One of the boys was Bobby. I don't know the other ones name. Bobby lives in Minneapolis i think. Now James lives in Nevada. Ihope this helps you. Good Luck Gary

My name is Brevig. I was born in Norway, grew up in Denmark, but now live in the UK. My grandmother, Alsaug, married my grandfather, Oeivind Brevig. They lived in Horten for a while before moving to Oslo.

My G-Grandfather was Johan Andreas, b. 1858 in Strinda, Trondheim - his birth record indicates his father was Kristian Brevig.

HANS BAADE ERICHSEN BREVIG born 18 Aug 1804 in Trondheim, Sor-Trondelag, Norway. He married (1) KAREN BERG, daughter of ELLEF BERG and KAREN CARLSEN. She was born 30 Aug 1811 in Trondheim, Sor-Trondelag, Norway. He married (2) ANE KRISTINA HENRIKSDATTER OYEN 04 Jun 1838 in Trondheim, Sor-Trondelag, Norway, daughter of HENRIK OYEN and ELEN OLSDATTER. She was born 07 Feb 1817 in Trondheim, Sor-Trondelag, Norway

Hans father:
ERICH BREVIG born in Norway. He married MATTE CATHARINA BAADE 15 Feb 1803 in Vor Frue Kirke, Trondeim, Sor-Trondelag, Norway

I'm stuck, I'm not sure how to look back further. Any assistance or information would be greatly appreciated.

Can it be Knud Olsen Brevik born 1885 in Breivik Krødsherad Buskerud Norway you are locking for? He left Oslo for Minnesota 10-8-1905 with the Ship Oscar II. He came back and got married in Norway 1913.If so I have lots of info about his family

My Great Grandmother was Hilda Christopherson, married to Carl Brevig and after his death Robert McCarty. My Grandmother was Velva Mae Brevig. Was your wife's grandmother Ella or Crystal?Or Lorraine or Hilda McCarty ? I would be very interested in finding out more and sharing databases if our families are actually as related as it seems we are. I noticed on the 1930 census report ( South Dakota) that a family by the name of Wold was a neighbor to GG Hilda's family. By any chance your family? Very curiuos. Ingeborg came to minnesota about 1866 entering the US through canada with her husband Knut Olson Stenbakken Vigen and family of four boys and three girls. they went to goodhue county(?) for their indenture time and then went to grant co where they homesteaded in stonybrook twp. Part of the family stayed there and part moved to the Harvey, N. Dak. area and part moved to Castor, Alberta, Canada. I sorta stumbled across this website tonight.And I could not find any info on Jonette Brevig. My grandfather migrated from Norway in the late 1900 his name was Nels and his father was Knute. Nels married Anna Heier. and bought some land in a small town in ELBOW LAKE [MINNESOTA] IF anyone can help me with some more info about that family i would greatly appreciate it. my dads name was Trygve. twin brother Carl Motzfeldt Brevig, born Sept
20, 1869. He never married. They were from
Mosvik, Norway. They immigrated to Argyle,
Minnesota in 1888 and moved to Canada in 1903.
I believe they spelled the name Brevik when
they lived in Norway.
