Joseph C. Briceland obituary in the Free Press Standard, Carrollton, Ohio, Thursday, February 26, 1920.
Joseph C. Briceland was born October 28, 1833, at Hollodays Cove, West Virginia, and removed with his parents to Carroll County in 1845. He was married to Martha A. Steel in 1862, to which union were born two children, Mrs. T. G. Rutledge, of East Springfield and F. D. Briceland, of Amsterdam. He died at Amsterdam, February 15, 1920, at the age of 87 years. His long, useful and upright life was an unbroken chain, and his hope beyond the grave was unclouded. The remains were interred in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Union Twp., beside those of his parents.
